Saint Patrick's Day

Any thoughts out there on St. Patrick's Day?

Should this be celebrated in the apostolic churches?
I believe it's a Roman Catholic and
Anglican "thing" but I'm not sure.

I'll do some more research on it.

I don't know why it would be celebrated by the church.

I think the same as you,
but some think differently and I like to know why.

I believe that St. Patrick's Day is an issue of personal conviction... and an issue of absolute necessity for us Irish saints of God. lol

It does celebrate the advent of Christianity being preached to the Irish for the first time.

(I'm a Restorationist.) :)

It involves some fantastic stories like driving snakes out. Personally I believe this is a RCC political move to try to make Ireland a RCC bastion the way they did with south America and their 'indianized' Virgin Mary

Erin Go Braugh!!!!!!!!!!!! It has become a secular celebration if Irish heritage, I have no problem celebrating it. Our church always has a public St. Paddy's Party as an alternative to the the bar scene, Great tool to outreach!

Who are you reaching out to?
The congregation? Lol.
Or are you dragging the bar scene into church?

He was actually brought up in a christian home in Britain and ended up winning many people to the Lord in Ireland. You can find books about his life at most libraries and they also have a story on http://www.cbn.com/spirituallife/Bib...ntPatrick.aspx which is on the CBN website.

If you're Irish or RCC it's a true holiday :heeheehee

But for the rest of us....
who have no Irish heritage and don't drink green beer......you have an excuse to wear green and maybe go to a downtown parade.
