Re: Coulter Slaps Rubio On Immigration (L)
If our party were to follow Coulter's line of thinking, the GOP will not win national public office ever again.
So it isn't enough to make Christie a punching bag for the extreme conservatives. Now they want to destroy Senator Rubio too. Stupid. Simply stupid. |

Can someone be specific. What did she say?

Immigration is the issue on which I lean away from the Republican platform. I understand enforcing the letter of the law, but I don't really like right-fighters and I don't know anyone else who does. You can be right and still, well, wrong.

FTR, I disagree with Coulter and I think Rubio brings some good ideas to the table. Immigration needs to be addressed in a compassionate and practical way; it shouldn't be a choice between sending everyone packing or sticking your head in the sand.
The idea behind Coulter's comment seems to be about protecting the conservative vote, which is a shallow, self-serving approach to real people with real needs who already live within our borders. |

You are as foolish as the Galatians. You know you are lying and slandering, thus guilty before God as a transgressor. Get saved. Asking people to obey our immigration laws is not racism. Preventing those who came here illegally from gaining citizenship so that your party can buy their votes is not racism. BTW my wife is a Mexican immigrant. I forget more in 30 minutes than you'll ever know on this subject. Right now the USA welcomes about 2 MILLION legal immigrants to this country a year. The overwhelming majority are from Latin America and Asia. Of the Latin American granted visas each year, 70% are Mexican. Therefore, Mexicans are already disproportionately represented among visa recipients. In the name of JUSTICE, the illegals should not be given amnesty, at least as far as some path to citizenship. |
Immigration is a tough issue to deal with. Any GOP action is going to be criticized by both sides. The left will complain it's not enough; the right will complain it's too much.
We're not going to round up illegals and ship then back, nor should we ask for self deportation. We also cannot reward those who broke the law by giving them amnesty and citizenship. We do, however, need to give some kind of status or visa to them so we can have them documented and they can work their way towards a green card. I agree, if the GOP listens to Coulter, they'll never win another election. The good thing is, it's not. Rubio and others in Congress are going to get a bill worked out. |
Re: Coulter Slaps Rubio On Immigration (L)
So the GOP gets raked over the coals for conflicting over illegal immigration but, hmmmmm, let's see, what is Obama or the Democrats offering on the issue? Oh, yeah, pretty much nothing. You can call amnesty something, but it's nothing. Anybody can just say, "Oh you're here illegally?" well here is citizenship. And then of course you undermine the whole notion of people becoming citizens they way the law requires. It sends the message to al, of the law abiding immigrants, "Too bad for you---you should've just chosen the totally illegal way and you would've been given a 'get out of jail free' card."
Liberalism is stupid, stupid, stupid. It may win you elections, but it doesn't make it smarter. We're in this predicament because both parties won't do anything about our porous borders. Our gutless politicians continually wait until we are at a tipping point to make any decisions. This leadership by crisis is really old and tiring. Dear God, what I'd do for a leader with some spine! |
