DM, He isn't talking about Amnesty. He is talking about fixing the Guest Worker program. That isn't giving Citizenship. He wants them to pay taxes if they work here, enabling them to be tracked coming and going.

Wow, I guess Ben Shapiro learns his lesson after carrying water for ORomney during the last election.

He sides with Rand over Rubio and the Gang of 8. :thumbsup

Paul’s plan is significantly more focused on border security than the so-called Gang of Eight plan led by Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL), an obvious contender for the 2016 nomination. It is also a step in the right direction.

BTW, DM, I think Rand makes a calculated move here with the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce speech.

The Democrats don't want to solve the issue either, but they use the human factor against the Republicans. By solving it, the Republicans remove the power the Democrats have over the issue. It is called political strategy - and Rand knows how to work that, while keeping to his principles.

Rand Paul squashes AP's 'wrong' report

“I didn’t use the word citizenship at all this morning,” he said. “Basically what I want to do is to expand the worker visa program, have border security and then as far as how people become citizens, there already is a process for how people become citizens.”

Paul said the “main difference is I wouldn’t have people be forced to go home.”

“You’d just get in line. But you get in the same line everyone is in,” he said.

po, you are right about rand's plan concerning citizenship, but the fact is democrats won't agree to a plan that doesn't include citizenship. democrats have the upper hand by insisting on more rights to paint republicans in a bad light until democrats can have a working majority. either way it is lose lose for republicans. not sure how this benefits paul with hispanics since whoever his opponent will be, will be pressing for more rights than paul.

It benefits Paul, because he continues to stand on his principles and knows that the majority of Hispanics want everyone to get in line and do things legally like they did. That is the major angst with Hispanics in my area, get in line like we had to do. Paul knows that many Hispanics only want to work here, hence the Visa reform, who don't necessarily want to be a citizen.

He is very calm and steady in the dialogue.

not asking if his plan is a good idea, but can it get approved while democrats are pressing for more rights?

I wouldn't be so confident if I was you. And Paul's opponent will not be pressing for more "rights". Call them what they are. Paul's opponent will be pressing for more "special privileges based on race", because that is exactly what it is. As the economy continues to disintegrate under Obamics, Americans are not going to take too kindly to importing more people to put on welfare. The backlash against the Democrats will make 2010 look like a picnic. Obama is already plummeting in the polls, But, you have the right to dream if you want to.

This is a perfect example of how everybody spins what Rand said in his speech to fit their rhetoric. Read the article without any personal view on the subject and you will see how different people view the same information.

The funniest part is where they say this stance will hurt him in 2016 if he and Rubio run against each other. EXCUSE ME? They basically have the same position, except Rand has a more binding boarder security plan.

It is all a bunch of malarky. Do your own research and use the brain God gave you when coming to conclusions….

Re: Rand Paul Supports Amnesty!!!!!

SEN. RAND PAUL: I've got a news flash for those who want to call people names on amnesty. What we have now is de facto amnesty. We have 11 million people here. They've been here, some of them, for a decade or more. No one is telling them to go home. No one is sending them home. So I would say, if you want to work, we'll find a place for you. That doesn't mean you'll get special privileges, you will get a work visa. Work visas, really, we have plenty of work visas to give every year.
