We discussed this before. A mix of truth and distortions. As if we can understand Gods plans in a 4 minute video.

Many use the word "religion" like a buzzword to oppose Biblical teaching of holiness and obedience.

Loving and following Jesus is a religion. He is really saying he hates some religions.

Listened to it some time ago, but not today. OK, I'll listen again. Please stand by. ;)

OK, done.

Didn't see anything to invalidate my post. Now, granted, the guy makes a lot of good points. Great points! But he makes some mistakes, too. Jesus did NOT come to abolish religion; at least, I can't think of any scriptures to support it. Jesus ripped some religious folks apart, sure, but the fact remains: there is a religion founded on the story of Jesus, known as Christianity. That there is good Christianity and bad Christianity doesn't change that.

BTW, anyone who still believes that they aren't "in" or "following" or "members of" a religion, do you forfeit any and all tax breaks for your tithes and offerings, and does your church (if you attend a church) pay property and income taxes?

By all definitions, yes, it is a religion. But we aren't "followers" of a religion, rather we are followers of the Chief Cornerstone of said "religion."

Following Jesus is a religion. I seriously don't understand why people try to deny that! OK, actually, I guess I do, but it's a kind of lame reason, IMO. :lol

I didn't say it wasn't a religion. The English definition of "religion" is as follows: a : the state of a religious <a nun in her 20th year of religion> b (1) : the service and worship of God or the supernatural (2) : commitment or devotion to religious faith or observance 2 : a personal set or institutionalized system of religious attitudes, beliefs, and practices 3 archaic : scrupulous conformity : conscientiousness 4 : a cause, principle, or system of beliefs held to with ardor and faith.

I said "By all definitions, it is a religion." What I did say though, is that we don't, or at least shouldn't, follow a religion, but follow the "Chief Cornerstone" of this "religion."

OK. Not sure what it means not to follow a religion, I guess. Would you say you were a member of a religion?

By the definitions given, I suppose so. But the crux of my point is that in reality it is a relationship with somebody (God), not an obsession with something (religion). Make sense?
