Guns - I Doubt CNN will Report THIS!

Teen widow who shot dead home invader...

The 18-year-old Oklahoma widow who shot dead a man after he broke in to her house won't face charges over his death, police said yesterday.
The man was looking for the prescription drugs belonging to Sarah McKinley's dead husband, an affidavit released on Wednesday revealed.

Why don't you alert CNN to this incident to determine whether your 'speculative conclusion' is correct? Maybe they are unaware of it.

If you have ever watched CNN you have to know a story like this does not fit their narrative when it comes to guns.

CNN is an extremely liberal media outlet who make no pretense of offering objective coverage. Not just with their commentators, which one would expect, but with their hard news operation.

As far as alerting CNN goes let me say GOOD GRIEF!!!!. They are an international news outlet with the ability to see every news story published in any major media outlet throughout the world. I hardly think they need any of us to alert them a story like this.

I read a bit more... he was 58ish? they started living together when she was 15. got married a few months before he died.

lets focus on the positive.... how she shot a badguy dead in his tracks.

So you are saying a 40 year age difference is problematic?

I wondered how long it would take for someone to change the subject from defending yourself and child from a robber to the weird side of this story which is how a 58 year old man left an eighteen year old widow with a three year old child - their child.

So start another thread with that part of the story. Hey! CNN might report that!

If you believe CNN is not extremely liberal then you must have no idea of what liberal is.

Oh, was that the bias? Sorry that he's dead? Yeah. Any normal person would be happy about that. He deserved it.

I am not happy that anyone dies. But there is (and should be) a clear expectation of death when an intruder breaks and enters and brandishes a weapon.

No argument here. But it's still funny that you think "another young American is dead" indicated liberal bias. (If that was the line you meant)

I was actually referring to the idea that a supposedly a huge number of people die from guns for each incident of self preservation... as if maybe this woman should have sacrificed herself and her baby because somewhere else others are careless or CHOOSE to commit suicide.

Oh yeah... the whole guns in the home thing is very very bad. Accidental shootings happen all the time. Accidental shootings are "twenty times more likely". That someone actually has to defend themselves is very very rare.
So says the woman with NO data - zero to her claims.

Yeah the last part of that was pointedly against having firearms in the home. This girl had to wait over twenty minutes for the police to show. More data for those who say when seconds count the police are just minutes away - twenty minutes in this case. Even the broadcaster said he had waited on a 911 call for over twenty minutes. Then to end it they have to say another young American dead. How absurd. Have a pity party for that poor defenseless man breaking into a house with a 12" knife. I am sure he was just wanting a cup of sugar to go home and make some cookies.

LOL! yea... no it wasn the bias of "he is dead".

more the conflict of knowing this was a justified shooting, and the reticence to accept the use of firearms can be a right thing.

I admit my humnity. I have a weakness in not being sorry that a violent potental rapist got his come up'ns. it is certainly a fault.

Exaclty. the "stat" that you are 20 times more likely to get hurt by accident in a home with a gun than to use the gun to put down a bad guy is just a lie.

I have looked at a big bunch of studies related and none of them suggest such a thing.

there is tons of literature out there that shows guns are used hundreds of thousands of times per year to stop violent attack. The number of accidental shootings is tiny by comparison.

I'm not sorry the guy's dead, either, as compared to some other possible outcomes; namely, to the widow or her child being harmed. And in her shoes, I would likely have done the same thing. In theory, if there were a reasonably safe and sure way to prevent the guy's death, that would have been preferable, IMO. Who knows? He might have turned his life around and become a fine citizen -- it has been known to happen. And you guys are supposed to believe that God could get ahold of him! :)

Anyway. Yeah. Burden schmurden. :lol

It is clear this women should have just left the gun alone and explained to the criminal that she is a liberal and does not believe in violence and would appreciate him doing the same.

She could have told him that she was sure he was just misunderstood and that she or her family must have done something wrong to him in their past for him to seek to harm them and she is sorry.

I personally think she should have pulled out her axe and 2.38

:lol

KeptByTheWord 03-26-2013 04:55 PM

Re: Guns - I Doubt CNN will Report THIS!

The axe and 2.38 are otherwise known as the Bible, namely Acts 2:38... I heard it as a joke somewhere that as someone was trying to break into a lady's house she screamed at the would-be offender Acts 2:38 and the robber thought she was saying she had an axe and a 2.38 and took off...

On a more serious note... I pray I never have to find myself in that situation, but if it comes down to defending my home, my family, and myself, we do have the means of protection here in our home, and I do know how to use them. I prefer to keep a can of mace and bear spray handy as I'd much rather bring someone down and render them unable to move until more help arrives then take their life. I've also heard that wasp spray will work in a pinch as well.
