I'd be curious how they address the fact that the Church of Jesus Christ couldn't be found, as they would define the Church, for the several hundred years prior to 1913.
I'm assuming they define the Church of Jesus Christ as individuals who have 1) been baptized with the baptizor intoning "Jesus" instead of 'Father, Son, Holy Ghost, 2) spoken in tongues and 3) followed certain standards. |
Re: New Documentary on Birth of Jesus Name Movemen
If the church began at Pentecost and Jesus said the gates of hell could not prevail against the church, did the church cease to exist for a long time or something ?
I can't understand that. |

Re: New Documentary on Birth of Jesus Name Movemen
If one actually studies the movement yet, we have made a larger splash than numbers alone would indicate. Thus, a large number of people, yet only a fraction of the total, could have walked in this truth, yet been small enough to merit little historical impact. Give me a single major author who writes in opposition of the Oneness movement, or makes references to our leaders, or cites our authors. Such references are so rare that in three hundred years, the names of our organizations, the founders, and our doctrines will barely be a footnote in history. Thus, Oneness people in history would have been just as easily forgotten. The only reason that we posess the truth today is that God ensured this world would have His Word to be a witness against them.

These are the questions which I doubt the documentary about the birth of the Jesus Name movement 100 years ago will address. |
Re: New Documentary on Birth of Jesus Name Movemen
Just because the light was revealed does not mean that everyone who saw it accepted it, nor that it experienced wide support. We do have plenty of evidence that people rejected the Trinitarian doctrine, and others gave it consideration. The effect is not in numerics, but rather in the percentages. In a world of 6,000,000,000 people, only 300,000,000 believe (my guestimate), that is a mere one half of one percent or 0.005 of the population. When you factor in the greater educational opportunities, increased urbanization of the population, and the decline of western persecution, the setting is right for a more visible Oneness movement. As for records, look for writings against heretics. Thus those who are outside of tradition are labeled, some in truth and others falsely.
