That's when you know two things about a subject, but the person you're arguing with knows even less. You can diplomatically claim, "Well, it's a gray area."

That happened in at least one scene in the Wizard of Oz. Sometimes confused with tin man argument. Either one can be overcome by using brains, or heart.
