He is Still Oneness Pentecostal In Heart

What an awesome Palm Sunday sermon, preached by Bishop T. D. Jakes!

Re: He is Still Oneness Pentecostal In Heart

T.D. Jakes found what many have found, the body of Christ is much much larger than oneness pentecostalism.

Only when it is convenient for him.
He wafles when he is among trinitarians.

He is no Oneness. He has chosen to leave it behind for compromise with the Trinitarian position.

Well when he is among oneness believers, he pretends to be oneness.

I think TD Jakes has taken a position that one must believe in the deity of Christ. How one wishes to interpret it (Oneness or Trinitarianism) isn't an issue he's willing to fight about.

I don't think he waffles. He has stated that he is a Trinitarian. That doesn't indicate waffling.

He doesn't pretend to be Oneness. He speaks and conducts himself in a way to facilitate fellowship. How else should he handle himself around his contemporaries, brothers and sisters with whom he doesn't see exactly eye-to-eye doctrinally?

Don't you think that you should watch what you say about preachers of the Gospel of Christ-- the same Gospel that saved you and I? He isn't like a lizard.

Jay,
I don't think he came to his theological stance overnight and neither do I think it was a flippant matter to him.

His theological stance isn't a symptom of personal compromise.

Re: He is Still Oneness Pentecostal In Heart

My wife and I listen last night to his teaching/sermon and we truly gleaned from it. I however don't see his Oneness influence at all. I would say that more than a Oneness influence I would say it was his old school Pentecostal background, and contrary to some OP's they don't have the market on "old school Pentecost".

Thank you for posting.

Amen. And personally I heard nothing here that cause me to see his roots showing. He is very eloquent and his sermon was good so I am not knocking the message or it's content. I just don't see hwat you are saying?

Didn't he used to be PAW, along with Noel Jones? I heard at least one of them is COGIC now. Is there any truth to this rumor?

One that he lists is T.D. Jakes. This is what he says about T.D. Jakes:
"Brother T.D. Jakes was a plumber and a preacher while he was in our fellowship in Charleston, West Virginia. It is phenomenal how he has become so influential today, so quickly. To the best of my knowledge, he has not compromised the message of the Oneness of God, water baptism in Jesus name, and the infilling of the Holy Ghost. We are proud that his children attended our church school, and that he and his wife were married in our church building. Some call him a compromiser, but in my opinion he is just full of wisdom regarding how to speak to people."

He doesn't mince words when he quotes Isaiah in calling Jesus the Everlasting Father.

Many, if not most Trinitarian preachers and even singers I've heard, leave that phrase out because it is problematic.

By the way Sir, you really shouldn't "Amen" calling Bishop Jakes a lizard. You wouldn't call him that in your own post because you have too much wisdom for that kind of nonsense.

Jakes does not preach truth. he preaches to please the crowd. I would never say anything about a true man of God but Jakes is no man of God.

Yup.., he has his speech and his preaching WITH enticing words of man's wisdom, but NOT in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:

Just to clarify something that's constantly misquoted by many. Isaiah say that Jesus was the Everlasting Father.

Isa 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Read it carefully....without using oneness pentecostal spectacles.

Neither do oneness pentecostals. Running and screaming and jumping and yelling ain't demonstration of the Spirit and of power no matter how much you do it. If any of us were demonstrating Mark 16:17-18 you couldn't find a place big enough to hold the people. Spirit and power is identified as....

Mar 16:17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; 18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

Would a true man of God be the one who preaches a standard, a doctrine, a message that would cause folks to allow their babies to die, as well as themselves, because going to doctor was a sin according to these 'men of God'?

There are those who post on the forum who run with such a group you know.

[QUOTE=Lacey;1240020]What do you think it's saying?[/QUOTE

I think it's saying that the child which was born, the Son which was given (notice it's not speaking of the Father...that's important) name would be those several terms listed. The Strong's for "name" is.....

H8034
שׁם
shêm
shame
A primitive word (perhaps rather from H7760 through the idea of definite and conspicuous position; compare H8064); an appellation, as a mark or memorial of individuality; by implication honor, authority, character: - + base, [in-] fame [-ous], name (-d), renown, report.

My lord, who's preaching multiple Gods???? We have enough problems with oneness pentecostals splitting Jesus into two Jesus', one which is the Father, the other which is the Son.
