Morning After Pill Available OTC For All Ages

http://www.kltv.com/story/21889698/j...t-prescription

A federal judge has ruled the Federal Food and Drug Administration must make the morning-after pill available over the counter for all ages. Girls age 16 and younger will not require a prescription to obtain the pill.

The decision overturns Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius' 2011 decision to not make the pill available to all ages without a prescription.

so you need ID to drive a car and be at least 16 but you can be 13 and get this pill an no one the wiser?

That is not a judge. that is an idiot who needs to be impeached, then dropped into the middle of Siberia, nekked, in the dead of winter.

But, what about all those babies having babies? I mean come on, shouldn't we offer an alternative because they don't use birth control? TIC

My wife will be enraged when she gets to work this morning and hears this. Granted it doesn't take effect for a month and it MAY be overturned or given a stay by another judge before then (hopefully) but there is a REASON that most birth control in general requires a prescription. In most cases it is harmless but in some it can be very very dangerous.

My word!
Some of the people we have
in leadership in this country are insane!

The alternative would be PARENTS actually PARENTING.

Excellent point.

While I'm very libertarian, I believe that government has the right to enforce laws that protect life, liberty, and property. This endangers life and health. And it also endangers the liberty of a parent to actually be a parent who knows and has say with regards to their child's health.

I think we should actually. But I am not a women so I don't have a true opinion on that.

I would think there should be some sort of legit requirements to get the pill though. Geez la weez...

This was what I had in mind when I said there should be some sort of requirement. Make it OTC if ya want, but you have to be a certain age. I remember working at a grocery store as my first gig ever. We sold Nicorete and it was OTC, but we had to scan a person's ID because they had to be over the age of 18 I think it was.

A lot of kids can get condoms at school, free.

I made the comment at work today in regards to this topic:

"Yay! Abortion on demand! Just like Netflix!"

Several women were quite irritated with me immediately and I simply walked out, telling them I had to use the bathroom.

I know it's not an abortion because the pill only works (supposedly) before the fertilized egg is implanted. I am just not able to call this "good" or "right".

This is just one step further in the desensitization of the conscience of Americans. Give us one more generation of young people who have no understanding at all of the sanctity of life, and respect for the basic ten commandments....what kind of world is that going to be? This brings great sadness into my heart for the days that lie ahead for our children. May God help us all.

On a practical level many BC methods do not prevent the union of sperm and egg, they simply create a hostile environment for implantation. These types of contraceptives are known as abortifacients and include all IUD's, oral contraceptive pills and other hormonal contraception including Prevens and Plan B (morning after pills) and Depo Provera. The only true 'contraceptives' are barrier methods and sterilization.

Just a few facts when we discuss things like the difference between a 'birth control pill' and a 'morning after pill'... Medically we can do exactly the same thing by having a woman take a larger dose of regular oral contraceptive pills.

The 'Plan B' pill is nothing but a normal birth control pill x4 dosage.

And I would love to get my wife on here to get into these discussions since she knows so much more than me (having her PhD -actually PharmD). . . . .

Yeah Randy... It's easy to get emotional about these issues but honestly EVERY person who uses abortifacients and says they believe that life starts at conception in fact probably commits murder pretty often by their own standard. Can't even begin to fathom how many Christian women I hand OCPs to every month that say they would NEVER have an abortion under any circumstances.

No moral judgements here, just the facts ma'am.

I am for children NOT having children. My first choice would be for children to NOT be having sex. If that doesn't work than my second choice is for them to use barrier contraception which also help prevent STDs. And lastly abortifacients and abortion, which IMO are no different.

But most of all I'd like to see all people educated on exactly what we are often splitting invisible hairs over.
