Ya, the introduction was wild enough with the electrified hair-do, didn't last much longer watching past that.

*sigh*

Listen, there has been enough credibility lost that I find it difficult to sit through any TB video.

That said, I really don't like this thread and where it's probably headed. I don't like the idea of kicking a dog when he's down.

Is there a good reason for posting the videos? Are we meant to like it? Or are we meant to critique, pick apart and possibly make fun?

I sincerely doubt it.....Pastor DW was formerly UPCI and still has a strong UPCI connection. He could have changed, but I doubt that.

Things may have changed: From their doctrine

The Salvation of Man. The grace of God, which brings salvation, has appeared to all men, through the preaching of repentance toward God and faith toward the Lord Jesus Christ; man is saved by the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Ghost, and being justified by hope of eternal life. (Titus 2:11; Romans 10:13-15; Luke 24:47; Titus 3:5-7)

The Evidence of Salvation. The "inward" evidence to the believer of His salvation is the direct witness of the Spirit. (Romans 8:16) The "outward" evidence to all men is a life of righteousness and true holiness.

Repentance. All persons who turn from their sins and put their faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ receive a new birth by which their life is regenerated through the power of God. (John 3:3-6; Titus 3:5). This gives them power to be witnesses for Jesus Christ.

Baptism in Water. The ordinance of Baptism by a burial with Christ should be observed as commanded in the Scriptures, by all who have really repented and in their hearts have truly believed in Christ as Savior and Lord. In so doing, they have the body washed in pure water as an outward symbol of cleansing, thus they declare to the world that have died with Jesus and that they have also been raised with Him to walk in newness of life. (Matthew 28:19; Acts 10:47, 48; Romans 6:4; Acts 20:21; Hebrews 10:22)

There's nothing here to indicate they baptize in the titles.

There is. The fact that Matthew 28:19 is mentioned and Acts 2:38 is absent implies that they do.

If nothing else it seems as if they don't consider it a requirement for Salvation. :bigbaby

Oh...you may be right. It wasn't a red flag for me, because our church doesn't avoid Matthew 28:19 like the plague--like so many other OP churches do. :rolleyes2

What DW believes aside, obviously their doctrinal statement would be a lot more "watered down" than what TB formerly espoused. Which was the point of the mention, I believe....

Yes, this church baptizes in Jesus Name.

Do Oneness churches avoid Mt 28:19? Seems to me this is a foudational verse for Oneness believing Jesus is the name of the Father, Son and Spirit

It has been my experience with the UPCI churches I have attended that Mt 28:19 is avoided.

How many did you attend and for how long? Of all the thousands of verses in the bible why does a UPC have to regularly mention every verse but Trinitarian churches get a pass?

Good point. In the (few) thousands of OP sermons I have heard, (UPC and PAW) Mat.28:19 received at least proportionally fair treatment.

7 of them in different regions even areas of the world. Off and on for the last 16 years, some I was a member, and some I visited fairly consistently.

I am not saying Trinitarian churches get a pass bro. What I am saying is that OP's appear to avoid that particular scripture as far as sermons.

I also stand by my assertion that Trinitarians often appear to avoid quoting Isaiah 9:6 in its entirety, as it appears in the KJV and NIV.

My statements are based on my observations, my experiences.

Feel free to disagree.

I don't know that I've noticed it, or if I just haven't paid attention, but do Trinitarians also avoid Acts 2:38?

Re: Memphis Pastor video!

I have quoted Matthew 28:19 on occasion when preaching. I have also heard it used several times. I would not say that it is avoided, but many times may not be applicable to the general purpose of the message. Threre are many other verses for baptism that I am finding that I would also like to see used more often.
