An Appreciation Thread for Billy Graham

I am watching online the Billy Graham Library Dedication...

3 Ex presidents are there...

One thing (among many) about Billy Graham is he is one of the most moral televangelist's there has been.

And God has blessed him with a Long life...

Ronzo 05-31-2007 01:29 PM

Hope you're wearing your flak jacket

rgcraig 05-31-2007 01:29 PM

I appreciate him, but I'm sure we will have the nay-sayers voicing their opinions soon.

He's a great example for a Christian, but his messages were just so-so!

Kutless 05-31-2007 01:37 PM

The Forward puts him in a category also....they say he has apparently kept himself free from scandal....but it also must be said that his ministry does not feature the supernatural.

Oh well even though he's going to hell at least he's scandel free.

Ronzo 05-31-2007 01:38 PM

Love how that English guys sounds when he speaks. It's seeoooo prohpah!

Jack Shephard 05-31-2007 01:44 PM

The greatest thing he has ever done was preach repentance. Not from the point of just saying a prayer and you are good. But he preached you gotta change your life and lifestyle to line up with Christ.

There is a great article on one of his sons in the most recent Charisma Mag.

Are you serious??? por favor!!!

I think Billy Graham has done a lot for the moral fiber of America. He has led alot of people to Christ. I appreciate the fact that no one has ever found anything in him that can be criticized morally. I think he's a great man.

I agree, he has been called of God to proclaim the salvation that is in Jesus, to the world. That is all he has preached, "sinners need Jesus".

That's all nice and dandy.. but he is not baptized in the name of Jesus, and he more than likely does not have the blessing of the Holy Spirit.

That does not in anyway mean he hasn't been called and used of God to communicate the gospel to millions of people.

God uses who and what He chooses, it is man that divides and condemns.

I don't think a man could have maintained his devotion, passion and integrity for the length that Billy Graham has without the Holy Spirit. His preaching the gospel to the masses has resulted in millions seeking after the Lord.

Do they continue seeking? or do they stop after they "accept the Lord"? We'll never know...

I may be wrong about his history, but wasn't he at one time a pentecostal holiness preacher?

No, you may be thinking of Oral Roberts.
He was Pentecostal Holiness.
Some years back he joined the UMC.
I don't know if he's still affiliated with either of those groups.

Remember the quote from Bro. Goss, the first Gen. Supt. of the UPC,
"even the Baptists will be in the Bride of Christ."

Sam 05-31-2007 08:58 PM

"Though his voice may be among the most prominent of evangelical leaders who decry the ghoulish practice of abortion, Dr. Billy Graham, the Prince of Preachers practices spiritual abortion evry time one of his crusades invades a city! Proclaiming the deceptive practice of 'accepting Christ' as salvation, Dr. Graham is one of Hell's superstars in twisting scriptures to produce no effect! How many people leave a Graham crusade thinking they're 'saved,' when really all they have received is an evening feel-good religiosity?"
Jim H. Yohe, The New Birth Manifesto, 1994

Ole Goss did miss it a few times, and that was one of them.

I guess I will be the 1st nay-sayer.

While I believe Billy Graham is a very moral man, I also believe he will have caused more folks to be lost by giving them a false hope of salvation than any other man in our time.

We appreciate George Washington.. Abe Lincoln.. and Dave Crockett... we appreciate men like James Dobson and even George Bush... We appreciate Ronald Reagan and others...

I don't think we have to agree doctrinally to appreciate somebody.. do we?

"Caused" them to be lost? How so? You don't think God is able to complete what He starts? He said that He would complete the work He starts in us.

Many many many apostolics got their "start" under BG's ministry. What if they'd never heard the Gospel preached?

God is well able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we can ask or think. But BG causes folks to feel that they have arrived, and as a consequence causes many to stop their pursuit of God.

Not saying that some will not follow on to know the Lord. But I do believe he promotes a false hope that many will stop at, thinking they are ok.

Hart, I don't have the time or the energy to get into this with you. I am a "water & Spirit" man, so you know what I believe.

BTW - good to see you coming back around.
