Preliminary report is 2 dead and 23 injured but those numbers usually change a lot one way or the other in these type situations.

JUST IN: At least two people are dead and 23 are hurt after two explosions rocked the finish line of the Boston Marathon.

An intelligence official says two more explosives have been found at the site and are currently being dismantled. - Associated Press

Officials saying "a carefully planned event". They have so many precautions at major events like this I am very surprised they did not discover these explosive devices before.

6 or more in critical condition
28 injured
At least one more unexploded device found and disabled. Possibly a 4th.

Police Commissioner is giving a live press conference and said there has also been an explosion at the JFK library. They "don't know if related" but DUH what an amazing coincidence if they are not.

Despite that jerks exist in this world I am always amazed that while people are running away in fear emergency personal are running to the event to help. Afterwards ordinary citizens came out to offer comfort to the runners as well with fluids and blankets

They are saying it is a 20-year old Saudi National who is injured and under guard at an undisclosed Boston Hospital. Still trying to confirm. NY Post broke the story and really, they are a tabloid and will interview anyone, so I'm not sure this is true.

Not long I am sure. There is a lot of unverified stuff being reported I have not mentioned because there is a 90% chance it will be wrong.

The NY Post says the burn victim being guarded by police is a 20 year old Saudi National who is a suspect. That the cops have security video of the bombs being planted. That it was backpacks somebody leaves. Supposedly this guy I guess.

Very sad. I heard a doctor say an even younger child was taken to a children's hospital. I don't know that child's condition.

There was some kind of threat BEFORE the race even started, with heightened security and bomb sniffing dogs at the start and finish lines, along with many police officers along the rooftops. Apparently, this is not a normal "security posture" for this kind of event, but it still wasn't enough.

He used the phrase, "act of terror" in describing this event.

I stand corrected-- the President didn't use the phraseology, but a White House staffer speaking anonymously.

No mention of terror in his introductory remarks. I forget his exact words but he was certainly careful what he said. (Terrible incident, or something like that.) May have closed with a remark about terror, but I certainly don't remember anything else. Did say we would find the perpetrators and bring them to justice. What has it been now, 7 months since Bengazi and not even one suspect yet as far as I know, and he said the same thing about that incident.

One of the speakers from one of the departments did make it plain that it was a criminal investigation first (FBI) and then maybe terrorists. That means they will have to be given their Miranda rights.

Update: Breitbart did announce that Obama did not mention terrorist but a White House UPDATE did say they would treat it as a terrorist attack.

Fox News 25 is now saying that the incident may be classified as terrorism, but is right now considered a criminal investigation. FBI is the lead investigating agency now.

Fox News 25 also has said that the police did not have any idea that something like this was going to happen. They did not have a forewarning or anything.

This is contrary to what my previous link a few posts up seem to indicate.

More than one of the news media say that he did not mention terrorists but that the White House did come back "quickly" with an acknowledgment that it was terror. But that did not come from the mouth of the Pres!

German, the very nature of the act makes it "terrorism" no matter who is responsible for doing it.

The Oklahoma City Bombing was no less a terrorist act because it was homegrown and carried out by an American than the 9-11 attacks.

Also you do realize the source you are quoting is in Australia right? I seriously doubt they have better info that American news sources that are on the same continent! LOL
