Audacity?
Consider how the Jews (so it is said) got it wrong, in reading their scriptures that foretold of the Messiah: they didn't recognize him when they saw him. (Again, so it is said.)
Consider how many of Jesus's saying were misunderstood by the very people who walked with him every day. Consider how countless millions of Trinnies (so you guys say) get it wrong. Consider the disagreements even among Apostolics, and within many other sects, over the tiniest details and the biggest themes! Consider the false prophets. The false signs and wonders. The false teachings. The dire warnings from every camp to stay in their camp, and not to listen to anyone else! But you think you have it right? At least, right enough to get to heaven? You somehow know that you chose the right sub-branch of the right branch of the right religion? Even though millions of others, who you might say got it all wrong, think the very same thing about their choice? Lucky you! :lol http://www.apostolicfriendsforum.com...ad.php?t=20984 Or maybe you are deluded. How would you know if you were? http://www.apostolicfriendsforum.com...ad.php?t=24667 |

I've considered your questions many times Timmy. I'm still considering them. Hope you get a serious answer or two... I'd love to hear them.

Re: Audacity?
some people would say that the elect is solely God's doing who leads, draws and reveals. seeing that our knowledge is socially constructed, from schools, churches and tv; I think that reason can play a role in how we determine our faith, by seeking and comparing the sources and teachings. In my own experience it has been a combination of upbringing, reason and experiencing the presence of God. All three factors contribute to the belief in the rightness of my faith. I often wonder if things would be different if I was born and raised in an islamic society. then, reason and the spirit of God would have to do the work. reason should lead to openess and skepticism of all beliefs until faith and experience cross the threshold into rightness.
