Why do you participate at AFF

Quoting myself from another thread:

"I am here for the fellowship of other Apostolic people in a place where they are not under pressure to conform their thoughts, words and actions to fit a mold under threat of rejection. I am here to see how they view God in freedom of thought and speech so that I might better understand and love God. I am here to draw strength and courage from others like me and to listen to and learn from those different from me. So I believe that even someone with different views, vastly different than my own, will be used of God for my growth. Because of who God is, not who we are, there is something worthwhile in each of us."

Got me to thinking about WHY I come here and wondering why others take the time from busy days to come here and read and post... Please share a little about why you spend time at AFF if you would.

:stars good write up :stars

We are here for exactly what you just wrote!

We are God's misfits & lost in this world to a point of dispair. Till 3wks ago & now about every minute of everyday is getting a little brighter.

So I keep running back in here to get more oil for the lamp, as what you get from Sunday only lasts so long :)

Iron sharpens iron; and I come here for this, as I assume that, among the multitude of choices available online, anyone who chooses to come here must be fairly committed to God. Thank you, Timmy.

And to anyone I inadvertantly offended, I apologize; while wondering how you might call yourself a Christian, and yet still be offended--if the offense was obviously deliberate, then my guess is that the shoe fit? I'll miss you guys, bbyrd009.

I am here to meet with others like me and others that aren't like me. There are many here that have been through hurts, habits and hangups. None of us are perfect, but all of us are loved perfectly by God. We can commune together though we don't agree on all points. This is a place that arguements start, but the ones arguing can end up great friends. It's happened to me here. I found one of my very best friends through AFF. I found knowledge, grace, mercy and strength here too. That is why I am here.

I think I participate on AFF, because I like talking about God, about the bible, and I like to see other viewpoints concerning the scriptures. And in my life, except when I'm at home, spiritual things seems to be the least interesting thing that people want to talk about...

NOOOO! Don't leave us Mark! You have provided me with more laughs and more to seriously contemplate than any one else around.

I'm sure you have your reasons... but I hope they are something like you'll be WOOFFing on an off-grid ranch.

Um, no; unfortunately, I just seem to be too...offensive, I guess, to persons or a person w/their hand on the switch here. My recent infractions include comparing one of Dordrecht's posts with porn unfavorably (and just like that: "porn would be better," or similar), and calling someone ranting about Islamic "religious murder" or something equally intelligent a bigot--maybe that is a racist? :lol

Frankly, I'm tired of doing Admin's job and getting infractions for it. I'm sorry to say this, as much as I like this site, but the PTB here seem to have no problem allowing slander of another believer's monotheistic religion, despite site policy.

I'm available at my posted links, and I'll stop back by and say hi! :)

LOL! I was at the nail salon and while flipping through a magazine I read Scarlett Johansson saying, "I don't understand this intense need for sharing."

I first signed up at FCF to ask questions I couldn't ask at church. Enjoyed talking politics without the language you see elsewhere. Had fun with the lighter threads, i.e. shoes, recipes, decorating, etc. Love that people can post their prayer requests. And, of course, the train wreck that ensues with many of the debates keeps you coming back. :heeheehee

Re: Why do you participate at AFF

Why do I participate in AFF? The answer for that is different from "why did you join AFF" - at least for me, it is.

I JOINED because unless someone has been a part of the Apostolic Church, when you talk about your experiences (past or present, but mostly past), people will just look at you as if you are crazy. If you've been a part of this, you understand what we're talking about. I wanted the fellowship of people who "got it" when I said something.

What I found here are people who are family in about every sense of the word. We share a heritage together that those outside of the Apostolic world don't get.

Why do I participate now? Because you all HAVE become family! You know how bad we are all hurting over losing our sister Cindy? Well, I am convinced that the same would be true for anyone else here as well. You folks have carried me thru some very hard times - Walt's aneurysm, for instance. You've watched my boys grow up and graduate and rejoiced with me each time. I've done the same for your kids. I couldn't leave now - how would I know how Ferd's boys are doing? And how would I get to see Renda's little granddaughters grow up, or hear about Pressing Ons little ones or so many more of you! I want to be here to see Sis Alvear's pictures and hear about the work God has called her to do. I could go on and on, but you get it. We're all so intertwined in each other's lives - I can't imagine trying to break that bond and walk away. Nope! I would miss all of you far too much! So that's why I participate.

Well said, Margie. And we were all so happy to be here to pray with you and love you while going through that time with Walt.

I haven't really participated at AFF in a very long time since stepping down from the admin/owner position to have more time for other things.

I came back after reading about Cindy's death on facebook.

I do miss the morning coffee chats some of the ladies used to have in "Gabby's" thread-- and how Ferd would run through just to pull hair.

Most of the folks who have been around AFF for a while are like family to me. Maybe I'll hang around just a little more.

Can't you just like apologize or something? You know as Christians we'd be obligated to forgive you (just ask any person I've ever been crossways with about the forgiveness obligation factor :) ). Admins are a tinnie-weenie stressed and stretched right now I'm sure with the loss of Cindy... Please try to smooth it over... or just hang out as yourself... like now... Is that illegal or something?
