The Day AFF Died?

What's up with this place? Was the day all the ultra liberals got kicked out the day AFF died? Now the forum has almost now volley, all the ultra cons left (except for random new ones who sign up and only last a short time), all the ultra libs have been banned (generally speaking), and all the factions in between except for a remnant of moderate minded folks.

Perhaps the problem is all the "apostolics" are no longer apostolic?

Drove your Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry?

And them ultra cons were drinking whiskey and rye,

Singing "this'll be the day that I die? This'll be the day that I die."

Seriously, I only know of one (or two) regular poster that has been banned in the past year -I am sure there are many more who were never hear that much before they were kicked off.

And your correct that the conservatives (especially UC's) simply don't hang around much.

That song was going through my head when I read this post! LOL!

By the way, I LOVED that song.

I do not see what is so bad now that the hard right and hard left people are gone?

I sure wish the US Congress could get it's act together like that.

Actually that was the phrase/song in my mind as I posted this thread (and I don't know why since I neither listen to it, nor like it), but working in retail you become familiar with all sorts of music and lyrics.......

I bet someone could come up with a great AFF parody based on that (there's a pretty funny Obamacare parody on youtube featuring that song).....

But in that vein...... perhaps this place died because they allowed believers in.......(wait for it)................ the THREE men that mattered most, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost.....that was the day AFF died. :/

AFF thrives on controversy, heated debate, passionate discussion, yet mutual respect (although sometimes that falls by the wayside). When those elements are here, this place explodes.

Oh, and gossip. Those threads always go crazy like some religious TMZ. Really that's not good for anyone, but sucks a lot of people in.

I found AFF originally one night while researching a possible split in the UPC my pastor told me about. (That turned out to be the WPF), and have been posting here since then (2007).

It's more self-selecting than any effect of bans. Ultra Cons, after they discover they cannot achieve much traction to change anyone, nor receive much of a cheering section, then lose interest, and (per their Jesus) shake the dust off their shoes--after all, there's an unchurched world out there to save.

Libs and cons alike, who have never figured out to rid their posts of such emotive words as "silly", "off-base," "ignorant", "ridiculous," and the like, when responding to others' posts, eventually discover how tedious and unsatisfying a urination contest is.

Those who come to just talk, or even to spar, but without expectation to change anyone or anything can have an interesting (enough) time.

Not sure if i would be considered an unltra con or just your average run of the mill con but I am still here and enjoy the forum even if I don' always agree with everyone it has caused me to time and again go back an restudy issues so as to be able to better defend those points of doctine.

I am also still around, although you will not see much of me. There just has not really been a lot of point to posting recently. That and work has been keeping me rather busy. We will see if I can arrange to post a little more often than I have in recent months.

Btw, Bro. Luke, we both fall firmly in the UC category unless I am much mistaken. A title that I take joy in.

AFF should fix the forum runner app. Its been down for several months. Makes reading/posting from phone much more difficult, which I assume people use smart phones/devices more than PCs now.

I don't think either of y'all are UC. Maybe cons, but not UC. UC is steve epley (he's even let his standards down) RKSmith, Evang Benincasa, RDP. There's a certain meanness that comes with the territory, which neither you nor Luke have. :)

Make sure you have updated Forum Runner - mine works just fine.

Android or iPhone? I have android. I only have 2 forums on it, but the other one works fine. I think Houston started a thread about it while back. I'll check for updates.

Seems to me like things slow way down around here every summer. People have other things to do when it's beautiful outside :) Hang in there - it'll come back to life in the winter.

A couple of other things figure into our slowing down here, in my way of thinking.

One is the loss of our dear Cindy. I think we're all still stunned by that and hurting. Alot of people curl up in a ball and hurt silently at a time like this. I think we're seeing some of that here.

And I really do think the popularity of Facebook has taken a big bite out of us. I admit that I do alot more on Facebook than I do here. But I still come here every day to see what's going on and to check on my friends :)

And the three manifestations U-Cons admire most
The Father, Son and the Holy Ghost
He caught the last train for the coast
The day the music died

I'm also still around. I consider myself conservative I suppose.
Never did like titles though.
Summer time, most folks busy outside and inside
with gardens and putting up foods.
Also I've discovered Instagram on my new Android phone
and I'm playing with that more than anything right now,
also the games on there and also loving Holy Ghost Radio! :nod

That was fixed a while ago. I use it on my phone, Android, Samsung S3.

Try uninstalling and reinstalling, or updating.

I still peek in when I can. I think Margie is right. Summer has always been slow. About the time I committed to come back and help as admin-- stuff from the garden started coming in. It's been almost non-stop since. I'll be back.. but my garden stuff has to come first. My family likes to eat in the winter. :)

Anytime the holy trinity of oneness pentecostalism (Godhead, tongues, standards) isn't being discussed you'll find a slowdown of discussion.
