Is There Any Blasphemy In This Clip?

I don't think he's being racist here but, he makes many assertions in this clip. Watch and listen and then tell me what you think.

"The god who keeps secret prisons is not the God who keeps Sacred Promises."

I did not hear anything said that sounded racist and I tend to agree with Rev. Wright~

I like Jeremiah. I am not big on politics preached from the pulpit.

I agreed with his statemets UNTIL he said that Allah and YHVH are the same "god."

I agree with his points. But he preaches something like a social gospel.

I think he makes some interesting points-- I don't agree with ALL of them, but was baffled when he equated the LORD GOD to another god.

Unfortunately, he's not the first or last professing Chrsitian to make that equation.

I think it is interesting that my interpretation of separation of church and state seem to ruffle feathers of some of my fellow conservatives.

Then, they don't want to discuss politics from the pulpit.

If political discourse never made it to the pulpits, where would our country be?

Besides the obvious theological error about the LORD GOD, do you disagree with anything else he stated or implied?

Does he have any valid points with this rant?

I am not going to waste my time watching anything from this man as I heard and saw plenty of him several years ago. It was clear at that time he is a proponent of Liberation Theology which I want no part of as it is as much a perversion of the gospel as is prosperity theology.

For those reasons it doesn't matter to me whether or not JW has blasphemy in a clip. I am sure you could find an audio or video clip of just about anybody that I could agree with no matter how evil or wrong their overall theology or approach was.

I don't listen to anything that Wright has to say in the same manner I won't listen to anything Stoneking says. They may have some truth in what they say but it is wrapped up in garbage.

I once heard a Lutheran minister, after having a Muslim man speak at a funeral, equate Jesus to being just a 'brother' or 'prophet'. She said it didn't matter how you saw Jesus. It was all I could do to sit there and not say anything, but I sure was shaking my head!

Even the Baptist would have been up in arms over that statement :heeheehee

It was clear that she didn't want to offend him, but he didn't seem to have a problem stating his beliefs!

The ceremony he presented appeared to have prayers and such. I didn't bow my head, close my eyes, or show any kind of reverence to anything he was doing. Respectful of the person, yes. His religion? No.

It was a friend of ours who's father had passed away. She attended that church but the man was a friend of his. I told my husband that if I was her, I would find a church who had a pastor with a backbone.

Not to get to OT here but funerals and memorial services are where even most 'hard core' preachers tend to blur (or soften) lines of doctrine... Just something I've noticed over time and attending way more of them then I wish I had.

About Wright... For me he falls under the category of all raving, scream-preachy preachers... I am positively allergic to that kind of stuff. I do not listen to screaming, ranting, vein-bulging, sweating, wheezing preaching from anyone. I don't care if their theology is good or bad if their delivery is in that style. I believe that to sit through another sermon like that would cause me to break out in hives.

I like my Jesus friendly and mellow. :)
