I hate church!!
I love Jesus and believe in living a lifestyle that shows that love! However, I hate what the Pentecostal and Apostolic churches have become. Most of the reasons for the hate have been discussed here over and over. I mentioned my feelings to a couple of family members and I might as well told them I was a satanist!!

Re: I hate church!!
Well, I don't attend church anymore and haven't for a few years. Sometimes, I really miss it. But then I think about what it was verses the fantasy of what I wanted it to be.....and I just keep doing what I'm doing....

Re: I hate church!!
Some of my best and most beautiful memories and experiences have been when I have been in the presence of God. Some of my WORST have been when I have been "in church!".

Re: I hate church!!
I love church! There is a strength to be gained from corporate worship and hearing the word of God from a preacher (just like the New Testament says we need to).
When I am having a tough day or week it is refreshing to lift my voice with others and worship God in music and then after inviting in the presence of God hearing the word of God taught. |

I dropped out of the MAINSTREAM Church system in 1983. However I don't hate local Church. I believe in it. My prayer is that before I die I will find a real New Covenant Church.

Not knocking those who do enjoy 'church' though. It's just not for some. |
Re: I hate church!!
Im not knocking those that need to attend but here in the good ol southwest Mississippi people of all denominations look at you strange when you make a statement about hating church.

BTW...just a reminder of "Church" 1Th 5:11 Therefore comfort one another, and edify one another, even as you also do. Eph 4:11 And truly He gave some to be apostles, and some to be prophets, and some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, Eph 4:12 for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ. Eph 4:13 And this until we all come into the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a full-grown man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; 1Co 14:3 On the other hand, the one who prophesies speaks to people for their upbuilding and encouragement and consolation. 1Co 14:4 The one who speaks in a tongue builds up himself, but the one who prophesies builds up the church. 1Co 14:5 Now I want you all to speak in tongues, but even more to prophesy. The one who prophesies is greater than the one who speaks in tongues, unless someone interprets, so that the church may be built up. 1Co 14:6 Now, brothers, if I come to you speaking in tongues, how will I benefit you unless I bring you some revelation or knowledge or prophecy or teaching? 1Co 14:12 So with yourselves, since you are eager for manifestations of the Spirit, strive to excel in building up the church. 1Co 14:13 Therefore, one who speaks in a tongue should pray for the power to interpret. 1Co 14:14 For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays but my mind is unfruitful. 1Co 14:15 What am I to do? I will pray with my spirit, but I will pray with my mind also; I will sing praise with my spirit, but I will sing with my mind also. 1Co 14:16 Otherwise, if you give thanks with your spirit, how can anyone in the position of an outsider say "Amen" to your thanksgiving when he does not know what you are saying? 1Co 14:17 For you may be giving thanks well enough, but the other person is not being built up. 1Co 14:18 I thank God that I speak in tongues more than all of you. 1Co 14:19 Nevertheless, in church I would rather speak five words with my mind in order to instruct others, than ten thousand words in a tongue. the fact is, gathering together and edifying the body is biblical |
Re: I hate church!!
Church was never meant to be looked at as "going to Church". It is meant to be a continuing fellowship of people who believe in Jesus and his teachings.
Of course it is Biblical to meet at least weekly. I have been associated with several groups over the years that to some degree seemed like a New Covenant Church. It is an awesome thing. |
Re: I hate church!!
I can totally relate to your statement, although like RW... when the presence of the Lord is truly in the place, it is a beautiful thing. However, much of the time, the presence of man far surpasses anything the Lord wants to do. Perhaps that is why you "hate church" but still love the Lord, and seek after His presence?

Re: I hate church!!
Why the belief that one must attend only one assembly and be a faithful supporting member of that one assembly? There are probably 30 churches within 50 miles of me . Why couldn't I attend all of these on a rotation without being chastised??

Church is not a building. It's a gathering. An assembly |

How many miracles in the New Testament happened in a church building?

OR Are you just saying "I hate what MY church services have become"? |
Re: I hate church!!
Seems like some conflicting messages. Is it the building? no. Is it the same church over and over? No. Is it the same songs over and over? no. Is it, after a hard day of work all week long you don't want to be around anyone? Not sure really what the real issue is with hating church

Re: I hate church!!
I appreciate and never want to take for granted, that I am
able to attend the church of my choice and gather with like minded people who love to worship and praise God together. Psalm 122:1 I was glad when they said unto me, let us go into the house of the Lord. I like what Spurgeon said concerning Psalm chapter 122....... http://www.spurgeon.org/treasury/ps122.htm |

Go to church. FIND or MAKE an opportunity to testify.
And when you do, spill your heart out. You will then receive a CLEAR and CERTAIN sound as to what you need to do next. It's how I found out what direction *I* needed to go in. And it has been confirmed by family members who didn't want to listen to what I was trying to tell them. :) |
