What's the deal?

I went to log on to AFF tonight and found that I had to enter my user name and password - which I have not done in centuries! I couldn't even remember my password! Had to have one sent to me so I could reset it to one I might remember next time.

Did this happen to anyone else today? Any reason why that would happen? Just curious. Maybe I should post more often??

Is this really thread worthy?

Maybe not. I just wondered if it was a glitch that everyone encountered or if it was just on my end. Excuse me for wasting your time asking. On the other hand, if it didn't interest you, you don't have to read it. I pass over lots of threads that don't interest me every day :)

It means someone cleared your Internet data like cookies and saved passwords etc etc

No deal-final answer!

Prax, it did it again today. I did not clear my cookies or anything else. Should I be concerned about a virus? I use Trend Micro.

I have to enter mine every time. Always have.

Probably a browser setting.

it's never worked this way in the past. I use Firefox. Can you tell me how to change it back? By the way, I didn't have to log in the second time I came here today, but wonder if I will have to tomorrow after I turn the computer off tonight. I should try that and see. Thanks for your help, guys. I really do appreciate it.

What are you - the thread police?

It's probably just the NSA poking around, no worries.

And here's something else weird. If I start a new thread in one of the debate rooms, it doesn't show up as a new post. If I start a new thread in the Fellowship room, it shows up a a new post.

The old devil is after a bunch of us.

Re: What's the deal?

Margie,

Have you changed to a new antivirus or any other kind of protection like maybe spyware software? If so one of those could have disabled your cookies or for that matter if anybody else uses your computer they might have gone into some settings and disabled or deleted cookies.

Every great once in a awhile for no apparent reason one of my computers will not automatically sign me on. For a long time my personal laptop wouldn't and I could not remember my password. I finally broke down and did the forgotten password exercise and then was able to login in.

When you login does it ask you if you want to stay logged in at that computer with maybe a box to check?

CC1, nope, no new antivirus. And no one else uses my computer. Everyone at my house has their own :) (we are a well-computed family).

I have checked the box to stay logged in every time. That's why I'm so baffled :(

Strange, eh?

Make sure the box to save your password is checked next time you log in

In Firefox check Tools then Privacy and History and drop down to "remember history"

Also in "Security", check box "Remember passwords for sites"
