Holiness And Heart Purity

It seems as if holiness and heart purity are not separate from each other.

Jesus said:

Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God. Matt. 5:8

Paul said:

Follow peace with all men and holiness without which no man shall see the Lord. Heb. 12:14

Heart purity is the root of holiness.

Amen!

Furthermore, Peter said when Cornelius and his people got the Holy Ghost, God 'put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith'.

Seems there is a solid connection between the baptism with the Holy Ghost and heart purity, as in heart purity is a biblical work or effect of receiving the Holy Ghost.

Amen! We believe and when spirit filled we are actually receiving the LIFE OF JESUS CHRIST!

1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. Romans 8:2

WHAT! No mention of the clothesline here? ;)

Seriously... amen to this thread! Holiness and purity of heart with faith is indeed the standard of the Lord.

Purified heart by faith. So does one get Holy Ghost to get purified or because they are purified by faith?

Some who say Christians cannot cease from sin say that we will always sin at least in thought if not in actual deed.

Yet Apostle Peter wrote to Christians assuming their inner thoughts were pure.

This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance: 2 Peter 3:1

So friends its not impossible to live in heart purity.

Matter of fact unless our hearts ARE pure let us not expect to ever see God.

Blessed are the PURE IN HEART for they shall see God. Matt. 5:8

God gave them the same gift as us, and put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.

The giving of the gift is part of the purifying of the heart, apparently. And also, both are 'by faith'.

As you know brother, I do not care about the beard thing at all, for after all our Lord Jesus Christ had a beard.

However I preach that if a man is going to have a mustache or a full beard, he needs to keep it neat and professional.

What in the world does that have to do with the topic?

And while we're running this train off the rails, what about John the Baptist? Did he keep his beard 'neat and professional'? According to whose 'standards'? (Pun intended)

Apostle Paul believed that even among the young people in the Church a pure heart was not something impossible. He certainly was aware of such saints. He said to the young man Timothy:

22 Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart. 2 Tim. 2:22

He did not think Timothy would be alone in living a life of purity of heart.

Did Timothy have a pure heart at this point?

His heard has nothing to do with the topic.

Bible says confess your faults one to another, so would being transparent with faults be part of having a pure heart?

During my morning studies, I am in John's Gospel and these verse's grabbed me this morning.

John 8:34-36 (NKJV)

34 Jesus answered them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin.
35 And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever.
36 Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.

I must have read these verses hundreds of times but today they were alive to me.

I am no longer a slave to sin. I am a son of the Most High God and will abide in the house with Master, because the Son has set me free.

The bolded words of the Jesus above are not entirely accurate according to his own scriptures per Leviticus 25:44-46. "Your male and female slaves are to come from the nations around you; from them you may buy slaves. 45 You may also buy some of the temporary residents living among you and members of their clans born in your country, and they will become your property. 46 You can bequeath them to your children as inherited property and can make them slaves for life, ...

(But carry on.....:icecream)

I'm sorry, I should have put my comment above in Timmy Talk, not this thread, but the edit window is expired. I'm sorry.
