Its true. every day it seems i find some new proof.

I just did a look at my facebook, and there are no less than 5 of my friends reporting in on some status related to some surgery.

its crazy! i didnt post on me, but i am on the list too! LOL!

(im doing great and it was nothing major at all just middleageisinsultingstuff).

Who made up the saying about the "golden years".... I wonder about that! lol...

I guess it is kinda like when you buy a new car. It is beautiful, unflawed, and unbroken. But as the years pass, it requires more maintenance, time and care, and things continue to break down that have to be fixed.... and the older it gets, the more maintenance it requires...

Just like us .... we are born new as babies, and the older we get, the more maintenance we require to keep us working and in good condition... just part of the getting old process I guess!

serously I have to take my glasses OFF to read now. One might say that is a good thing...right up until I stop reading, move along to the next thing and remember that I have forgotten where I last had MYSTINKINGGLASSES!!!!!!

I've been thinking about all this lately since some problems with a tooth and my husband being recommended some minor surgery. :( It seems like it's all downhill from here! But that's too negative. What are some of the positives? (Besides that senior discount??)

Try to find something 'golden' in Diminishing hearing and vision, extra pounds, irregularity, dental plates, doctors visits, memory and breathing problems.

I'm currently recovering from a knee arthroscopy. Ahhhhh, youth!

Got to order from the senior's menu at Denny's a few years ago. (Yes. I've been old for that long.) What joy! A lot less food for a little less money! :lol

Honestly, it looks like a scary road. I am not sure how much medical attention I want. I think I will be picking and choosing from that platter like a buffet. Take this, reject that. Thank God for Google. ;)

Sometimes I think societies that are a little more accepting of aging have some of it right.

Yes, the older you get, the more scary the thought of a nursing homes becomes!

Indeed, other countries seem to place more emphasis on the elderly, and it is without question a matter of fact that a family pitches in to take care of the elderly. However, in our country, a nursing home seems more convenient. And there are times when someone just cannot be cared for in a home.

But I am talking about someone just getting old and forgetful, who can't drive any longer, who ends up in an institution because no one in the family is willing to make the sacrifice to care for them at home.

I've already starting talking to my kids about those days hopefully far off in the future where their dad or I may need to live with them... lol.... and we have talked to our parents as well, and let them know they are always welcome to live with us should the days come that they need help, and cannot live alone.

I only have a DIL and she has stated she is not keeping me or her mother should the need ever arise. Therefore, instead of a nursing home I'm praying to go in the rapture. :)

Well I have a sweet DIL who is going to nursing school
so as she puts it...."I can take care of my parents and
my husbands parents, if the need ever arises."

Well, for what it's worth, i am completely convinced that all (or almost all) of that can be cured with real food; which you cannot find in a grocery store anymore--not even in the produce section.

My kid told me that if I was bad, she would come to the nursing home, push me out in the sun and leave me. I kinda watch that kid pretty close. :D
