A Serious Apostolic Discussion on Angel Hair...

Pasta...

I like it tossed.. with Pesto.... or garlic & Butter... or browned butter & Mizithra Cheese...mmmm.....mmmm...Good!!

Ronzo 06-06-2007 12:20 PM

If you have a good red sauce, it's great with that too

HeavenlyOne 06-06-2007 12:21 PM

I knew it! LOL!

I like angel hair used in spaghetti, since I don't care much for pasta.

There is also a Filipino dish I love called 'pancit'. Haven't had it in years, but the stuff was good hot or cold.

Trouvere 06-06-2007 12:25 PM

I grow my own basil and oregano of course but you can buy it at the market.

two cups basil leaves
1 cup fresh parsely leaves
1 cup parmesian cheese(fresh ground is best.)
1 cup olive oil
2 pods of garlic
1/4 cup pinenuts(may be ommitted)
salt
black pepper

In your processor buzz the basil/garlic/parsley/oil.
add the pinenuts/salt/pepper and cheese and buzz a few times more.
Stir this into freshly prepared angel hair.More cheese can be added later.
This goes great with grilled steak or chicken.
When you fix the angel hair and set it aside stir in a teaspoon or two of real butter. It really makes a difference.

You can refrigerate this and use it later. It is so good.I love it when spring and summer comes so I can grow tons of basil and grill and have this outdoor.God is good.

Trouvere 06-06-2007 12:28 PM

Ron if you like a marinara sauce make it and get it bubbling in the skillet and add this to it.It will make you never go back to any other sauce. You can add clams if you want to use linguini

revrandy 06-06-2007 12:33 PM

Pine nuts are amazingly delicious with pasta..

Chewy 06-06-2007 12:48 PM

Cut up and cook up some chicken tenders and mix your cooked pasta with a 1/4 stick of butter and some Dijon sauce mix. It is heaven on earth.

chaotic_resolve 06-06-2007 02:19 PM

But the REAL question here is . . .

What kind of wine with that pasta!? :lol

Trouvere 06-06-2007 02:20 PM

my daughter does angel hair with garlic, lemon, olive oil.She loves it.I think
Brother Benincasas wife showed her how to make it.

Scott Hutchinson 06-06-2007 02:21 PM

I thought this discussion was about when some of your wife's hair got off into her cooking.I have found one of her hairs in my plate before.

If it's a red sauce, go with red wine... if it's a white sauce, got with rose' or white.

I'll take a sprite, water, or tea, though, because I hate the taste of wine, except to cook with.

pine nuts...easy to find in a grocery store? do you buy them already prepared for pesto, or do you have to do something with them?

Pine nuts can be found in most grocery stores.

You need to combine (chop) them with the basil and olive oil to make pesto.

Look for recipes for pesto on line if you're looking to make it.

If not, buy it in a jar instead.

Trouvere 06-06-2007 02:31 PM

Pesto in a jar??? GROSS

I thought Benedictine and Blue Nun were sanctified wines??? Mogan David???
:poloroid

I have all the other ingredents for pesto...

do you have to do anything to the pine nuts prior to adding them to the food processer? I think it calls for roased or something, pine nuts. Or are the pine nuts already "roasted" in the store. Are they with regular nuts?

Ronzo 06-06-2007 02:32 PM

I'm just sayin'... if it scares someone, they should buy it in a jar. Some folks ain't blessed with cookin' talent.

They probably won't be roasted. You can do that in a saute' pan over med low heat. Keep 'em movin' if you do.

I find pine nuts with the salads at my local store. They're light in color, and look like longer pieces of shoepeg corn.

Raw oysters go good with TABASCO! They scream all the way down.
I don't eat them. They are a good way to die young. One of my favorite
cajun commedians Ron Begnaud died eating them but he was also drinking
some kind of whisky as well so that may have contributed.

I have never made chocolate covered ants. They do have suckers now that you can buy that have bugs in them.I wondered if they thought we were giving suckers to the cat because thats the only animal stupid enough to eat them.
