The Shack Movie?
So they are making a movie about the book The Shack. Ha Ha Ha! :toofunny
And Oprah may play one of the parts of the trinity. Below I pasted a small part of the article. You can't make this stuff up. It did not specify which part Oprah could be given, although the main character, Mackenzie Allen Phillips, encounters three versions of God while in the shed, one of them Papa, an African-American woman. The two other members of the Trinity who Phillips meets are Jesus, a Jewish Carpenter, and Sarayu, a woman of unclear Asian descent whom he later discovers is the Holy Spirit. http://www.christianpost.com/news/op...-movie-118772/ |

I read The Shack. I thought it was kind of weird.

Re: The Shack Movie?
This was years ago but I read The Shack. First my wife said everybody at her job was reading a book called The Shack. I was like whatever. Then I heard people saying it was a great book, you have to read it, it changed my life. So some how I got a copy (I don't remember if it was given to me or if I bought it at Goodwill for $1).
But anyway I don't have a problem reading whatever I want (as far as Christian books go). I have no hang ups of whether the author goes to the same church as me. So I read the book. A major part of it is that the guy is in a shack with God and he interacts with the three persons of the trinity. God the Father is a outspoken black woman, Jesus is a Jewish carpenter and the holy spirit is an Asian woman? Was the author trying to be controversial to get more attention for the book? Was he trying to make people think outside of their normal box of theology? I don't know. The thing is that I never recommended the book to anyone. He lost a bigger audience by pushing his insane idea of the trinity. I am not bashing any Trinitarians. I am just saying this author went into left field. |
I stopped reading once he got to the shack. It was absurd.

I'm glad I never bothered reading it! :nod

Re: The Shack Movie?
I shall not be going to see this movie.

Re: The Shack Movie?
Dumbest book ever and it teaches Universalism.
|
Re: The Shack Movie?
Eh, I thought it was an okay book. Christian fiction. A lot of symbolic artistic liberty (as is often seen in the works of C. S. Lewis). I think people get way too uptight. The overall message of the book was one of healing and grace. Not a bad book. But I've read better books.
On a side note... as with all the controversy surrounding the movie Noah and books like these I begin to wonder... have we as Christians become a people who lack imagination? |

Re: The Shack Movie?
CS Lewis made up imaginary worlds. The Shack was not set in an imaginary world. I think there is a big difference between CS Lewis and the author of the Shack.
Oh and by the way CS Lewis was one of the greatest writers of our time, not a poor writer that came up with silly story. |

In a world of free thought... I value different opinions. I don't agree with the author on several things. However, it's not a bad story. The predominant theological theme is Universalism, an ancient doctrine known as Apocatastasis. Please note, while this doctrine was one of many in the early centuries of Christianity, it was tolerated. |

We actually had the author speak at our church, in the context of his own "great sadness" it is clear the book has been helpful to lots of folks. It would be helpful to read it without religious lens, then maybe you would hear the message. |

What I got out of the message was that anybody can be redeemed. It is a very touching beautiful sentiment. All I am saying is that if the author wanted to touch/preach/reach as many people as possible he would have toned down the beat you over the head with a controversial view of the trinity. Even Trinitarians has a huge problem with how he portrayed God/Jesus/Holy Spirit. I am not nocking the guy, but when we start talking about a writers style everything is fair game. Just read one book on how to write fiction and you will see my comments were very, very tame. God Bless |

Re: The Shack Movie?
Considering the author wrote the book to communicate to his children never intending to publish it, after I heard his story, I think he did a great job. I still don't think the critics get it.

I also saw a few snippets of the movie (You-Tube). What a train wreck. This world is filled with star wars, vampires and trolls. We do not need Christian fiction. Real life is difficult as it is with out trying to identify what fictional character is who in the Bible. Rubbish. |
