Whatever is Good...Whatever is Lovely....

I'm feeling quite sad and melancholy and cynical right now. And I need to desperately talk about something other then gay marriage or the inerrancy of the scriptures.

Please, tell me something good.....

Have you heard or watched TobyMac's song, "Speak Life?"

It's a great song.

My beautiful daughter sang me "You are my Sunshine" when I got home, because she could tell I was sad. :)

While I've disagreed with things you've posted, you have a tender heart, show compassion to all, and are passionate about what you do believe.

Hey, I understand that the heavy issues get well... heavy!

So... this is a holiday weekend coming up. What are your plans for the weekend?

Thank you for your kind words :)

Unfortunately, my weekends are usually more stressful than relaxing! My husband and I work opposite shifts, so that we are able to split child care of my almost 3-year old. This means we see each other for 5 minutes in the morning and 5 minutes at night during the week. So during the 2 days we get on the weekend, we are trying to fit in: Laundry, house cleaning, errands, shopping, projects, quality time together, and quality time as a family.

I'm exhausted just thinking about it! LOL

Hmm, I hereby diagnose you as suffering from "Small Child in the House Syndrome". Otherwise known as SCHS. The symptoms of this are exhaustion, periodic depression, and irritability. The only known cure is waiting about 2 more years and it will slowly abate. It will abate so slowly, you almost won't notice it. I must warn you, however, there is no total cure, only management of personal resources because once you have SCHS it morphs into other syndromes such as SKHS (School Kid in the House Syndrome). It will eventually morph into the dreaded THS (Teenager in the House Syndrome). Eventually you will end up with YAHS (Young adult in the house syndrome) or ENS (empty nest syndrome). There is no cure. :)

It is a beautiful thing to know that if we do the very things we have learned, received, heard, and seen in Paul, that the God of peace will be with us.

Philippians 4:8-9,

8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
9 Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

See the connection?

LOL.... I second this diagnosis!!! Once a mother... always a mother! Although difficult times ebb and flow, and there are transitional periods that at times are easier... a saying comes to mind "this too shall pass".... and time will pass and eventually someday you may look back on this time in your life with wistful thoughts!

I remember when my kids were small, I couldn't wait for them to grow up. Now they are teenagers/young adults, and I wish I could press the stop button to keep them from growing and changing so quickly, and go back to those years that I had tried to put on fast forward!

Try to find joy in the journey, if you can. It helps to just manage one day at a time, instead of trying to figure out the future. That has helped me immensely in the times when I felt exhausted, and worn out from all the duties of motherhood.
