Wow. If technology has the ability to monitor every person in NYC.... what are they going to do with all that information? Who is going to get their hands on it and use it for their benefit? These are scary things indeed.

Re: Surveillance

You guys should go to youtube and look for Dji phantom

It's a drone available for the public that you can fly really far away by an onboard camera that links with a view screen or your tablet.

You can also use it to video objects

One video I saw this guy flew the thing out to sea where an ocean liner had just left the harbor. It followed it a long ways and was really high up

Anyone can buy these things now. A cop can sit in his car eating donuts and fly one around your neighborhood and spy what is going on in the backyard

This is just over the top, crazy Prax!

I saw a strange looking yellow plane flying over my house a while back. I stood outside and watched it, and it circled our area for a bit, like 3-4 times. I was about to go get my binoculars so I could see it more closely, but then it took off. Weird.

Hope you're not growing any dope in your backyard. LOL!

Re: Surveillance

LOL! Well, our neighbors a mile away are able to grow it legally. Isn't that something! Our cops here are busting people left and right for crossing over into our state with pot, and it is legal just steps away. Madness, if you ask me. And I'm sure all the dope they seize just ends up in the black market anyway.

But ya, this does make you wonder what's flying above you now!

Yes to both. I'd love to have one but I was just thinking how many there could be out there soon enough. What happens when someone flys one high enough to hit a helicopter. They often fly low.

You can fly one of those into someone too and hurt them. What if one drops down on a moving car?

The cool thing is you can automate these. You can assign "way points" for it to fly.

we should use these on the border

I think that we are going to face some very tough issues in the very near future with these drones and the surveillance technology. What if it escalates family violence, where an estranged wife is followed by a drone, and she has no place to hide from the violent husband she left? What about stalkers? If they get their hands on these devices, what kind of damage could be done? All this technology is just overwhelming to my mind, to imagine the consequences of all the different scenarios that could be disastrous for us in the very near future.

Yes, it's pretty overwhelming to think of what people (mostly the gov) could do with this information.

Not to mention the Chinese who sit in rooms hacking into whatever they can get into.

You don't even have to go there. I have some neighbor kids who'd probably just try to shoot a drone down for fun.

Re: Surveillance

Think of the church application!

Pastor could use it to see if folks really are out of town or they just parked their car in the backyard behind the fence. Youth leader could follow the youth group to see if they really went to Sonic. Fly over the neighboring church and count the cars in the parking lot. Just to mention a few.
Endless church uses.

In countries that outlaw Christian churches, scary to think the saints who worship in secret could be exposed.
