Re: our idols in our church in Brazil...
IMO, a painting in the foyer is much different than an angel hanging over the platform. :lol

Re: our idols in our church in Brazil...
IF I COULD AFFORD MORE I WOULD HAVE MORE...I love things like this and no one prays to the angles...our people came out of that they pray to Jesus...however heaven is a real place...we could never afford the things Brother Holmes has but I personally love his church...of course we are old school friends...so of course I may be a little too personal but I admire him, his family and his church...

Re: our idols in our church in Brazil...
My old SS room has several paintings my son now uses it for his office...he said mother as long as you live they will always be like they are now...he seems to enjoy them with those that come to visit him in his office...

Re: our idols in our church in Brazil...
Oh, Jay I can take the teasing...Now on the serious side the painter is a sinner...I sure wish you folks would pray for him...His name is Pila...Such talent...we usually have to sober him up to get him to paint something....so sad....
|
Re: our idols in our church in Brazil...
I will pray for him. It is sad to see such great talent wasted by the works of sin and the devil. May God grab him by the heart and cause him to see his need for Jesus to be his Savior.

that is so funny....

Re: our idols in our church in Brazil...
In reality our people came from "deep idolatry" ...I hope I can be an example of balance....I have a beautiful cross my sister made me from stained glass but I do not have it in my living room just in my office...people must be taught about crosses and angels and all kinds of things like this...I see no harm in having a cross as long as you do not worship it or use it for the wrong reason...

After the comments of a prior thread, I wanted my comments to be understood as funny, and I am thankful that you found them so. You are so correct. People need to learn that the power is not in the object, nor does such a relic actually have any influence with our Lord to move Him in any way. Rather, such things are only useful to the extent that they redirect our thoughts to reflect upon the reality that such an icon represents. This is why so many churches have crosses in the sanctuary, so that we may pause and reflect upon that great mercy that Jesus displayed for us by taking upon Himself the just penalty for our iniquities. |
Re: our idols in our church in Brazil...
there was furniture in the tabernacle and it seems heaven will have a lot of beautiful things...I want reminders of it's beauty all long my path....never want to lose sight of that beautiful city...
