Why I love AFF
Besides the fact that they have not kicked me off (unlike some Trinitarian forums, where I am persona non grata)
Well I love it because I find brethren across the world who believe like I do. I also love it because I find brethren who do not believe like I do, their different opinions regarding certain doctrines, forces me to study more carefully the scriptures and see if my doctrines can withstand scrutiny. I have no fear of anyone questioning anything I believe, I have no sacred cows, for the truth never fears questions, the truth stands when everything else falls, and I am not afraid of anyone questioning any of my beliefs. I love AFF for most of the members are not afraid to question just about any doctrine. At the end of time only truth will stand, everything that is false or wrong will fall by the wayside. I stand upon the Bible as the truth, I only accept the Bible as the text for truth. if it is not in the Bible, then I simply refuse to accept it as pure truth. my motto has always been The Bible, the Bible, the Bible and only the Bible. So if you are going to challenge any of my beliefs, you better know your Bible. I love AFF and I hope it remains an open forum for Apostolics of every stripe and denomination. |
Re: Why I love AFF
Yeah AFF does treat those Trinitarian Apostolics rather kindly.

FlamingZword,
The kind words are appreciated. The purpose of AFF is to allow a lot of diverse viewpoints to be expressed and discussed with Christian love and ethics. That last part is where people sometimes fail. No matter how far apart folks are in their opinion they need to learn to discuss it without personal attacks and crude language. |
Re: Why I love AFF
AFF is a fun place. Where eles could you see Steve Epley and Luke posting together.

Re: Why I love AFF
I enjoy AFF, as it is a chance to interact with other people coming from the same basic backgrounds, but with as varied belief systems as you can possibly find, and yet most are on a search for truth in their lives. It is great to hear the free debate of issues from both sides.
I appreciate the work of the admins too, to try to keep everyone abiding within the rules of the forum. It has to be a tough job at times, especially when you have crazies like "Bert" hanging around. |

Trinitarians are under the false impression that all true Christians believe in the trinity and if you do not, then you are splitting hell wide open, you will not pass go, you will not collect 200 pesos. Any challenge upon the trinity they view it as a direct attack upon God, they often lack the scripture knowledge to defend their belief, and since they are unable to answer my questions or arguments, they simply resort to kicking me out of their forums. |
Re: Why I love AFF
I have gone to other forums, but I simply can not find a better forum for Apostolic believers than this one.
Yes there are a few people in here who are actually enemies of the Apostolic beliefs, but the majority are actually quite accepting of Apostolic beliefs, of course there is variation of what constitutes true Apostolic doctrines. So yes I still like coming to AFF and debate with my Apostolic brethren, as long as they are civil about it. |

It would be nice/ideal if Apostolics could come here and show the Love of Christ to others while also defending their faith.
Sadly mostly what you get is condemnation, whining and storming out while declaring this place reprobate |
Re: Why I love AFF
"when a oneness person shows them the error of the trinity."
I've yet to see that happen. I've seen a lot of oneness people get bent out of shape about it though. |

Altho the internet is great for researching it can also be laced with deception. There are hundreds if not more of these "Apologetics" sites where they tell lies about the Oneness Faith. One wanting to research the Apostolic Faith would be met with all kinds of deceptions. Is there such a thing as Oneness Apologetics? Websites dedicated to teaching Oneness and Acts 2:38? All I can think of right off hand is the one by William Arnold. It is good on those topics. |

Back in the early 1900s to up to the 80s-90s, when OP was at its height, there was no way to talk about issues you didn't understand, past the circle of people in your community, neighborhood or church... and it was easy for pastors to enforce various and sundry unbiblical, man-made doctrines and teachings on folks who had no other way of communicating outside their small local circle. Now... with FB, Google, and online forums... this is a wide open arena for those who want to know more. This, I believe, is doing the greatest damage to those people who have taught extra-biblical doctrines, because more and more people are saying, wait a minute, what does the Bible say about this, and are searching for information through other channels than just their local group. AFF is a melting pot for those who call themselves Apostolics, and who with the advent of the Internet are seeking to solidify where their faith stance is. So many people come here from hundreds of different churches who have pastors who have taught their own version of extra-Biblical standards (to name a few I've heard - saints can't wear red, no open toed shoes, no beards) etc., and who are trying to clean out the bones in their belief, and hold onto the meat. At least, that is why I am here, and why I love AFF... yes it is a melting pot here of almost every kind of "apostolic" you can find... but I think most are here because we want to be sure that what we believe can stand the fire and the testing, and to also make our "calling and election sure". I doubt there are very few here who don't want to go to heaven. |
