Deep Apostolic Teachers?
 

Are there any out there? Whenever I see a video of an Apostolic Preacher/Teacher it very rarely makes me actually want to watch it. Usually some hollering and an idea that the crowd is supposed to get behind them.

Any recommended video or even audio where there is deep teaching? Or even just sound teaching?

I enjoy listening to KP Yohannan, from Gospel for Asia, when I can. I don't know what all he doctrinally believes, but his messages deeply touch me.

When you say deeper Apostolic preachers are you talking about those who can debate for years on the finer points of Calvinist predestination?

Is it like the preacher who took four years to teach the book of Ephesians?

I just have this image of old scholarly folks, in a dusty room, opening gut busting size books and then endlessly droning on for hours about the correct pronunciation of some esoteric Hebrew or Greek word. :heeheehee

Some hesitate to do this, but Paul magnified his office. Romans 11:13. Any ministry we have is not of our doings and flesh, but God. So God is the one to exalt,... never us. Having said that, to ensure none get the wrong idea, he has called me to deeper teaching ministry. To Him be glory.

Mike, I think the Pastor was saying that he preferred teaching likened to C. Stanley rather than the yelling, snorting, etc. one normally witnesses in Apostolic churches, NOT that he agrees with Stanley's doctrines. At least that is how I understood it, but I'm confident he will set us both aright if it be that is not what he meant.

After recommending a book written by a discredited Baptist preacher when I challenged his teachings concerning "soul sleep," a man who not only called the UPCI a cult, but who also said that "tongues" was a "doctrine of devils," then I wouldn't even "walk across the street" to listen to anything Seagraves might have to say.

Sorry, Mike, I didn't say that Seagraves had "become anti-Pentecostal." What I said was that instead of defending his stated position concerning "soul sleep," which I refuted by way of personal correspondence with him when he was the Dean of Theology at Christian Life College in California (he is now associated with the Urshan School of Theology at Hazelwood, Mo), he replied, recommending that I acquire and study a book written by a defrocked Baptist theologian, which essentially believed as he did about the matter.

I likened Seagraves actions to be similar to advising me to go and consult with the devil to learn the "truth" about "soul sleep"! What Seagraves was not aware of was that I had in my possession a DVD in which the defrocked ex-Baptist theologian accused the UPCI of being cultic, and that "speaking in tongues" was of the devil.

I would have thought that Seagraves, being the learned biblical scholar that he proclaims himself to be, would have been aware of the credentials of the man who wrote the book that he advised me to purchase and study.

This incident happened more than 10 years ago, and I've never listened to a single sermon, or speech concerning Bible doctrines by Seagraves since, nor do I intend to!
