Ooo MY!! UPC Pastor Orders $400 Lobster Dinner!!!! what do you think?

A Pastor From this forum visited another pastor recently and was shocked by the extravegance of This well known VISITING Minister !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After service they were taken out to eat.

When it came time to order the visiting minister ordered Lobster-

the waitress informed him that the only lobster they had was flown in from Australia and it would cost 400-500$

the visiting minister responded "thats fine!"

in the words of this Pastor's wife to me "can you believe ordering a 400-500$ lobster???"

Is this over the top in your opinion ????

You can have a minister, office worker, union worker etc. If they invest their money properly, he could have built up money.

If he then wants a lobster for $400.00 let him have it.

Look at all the interest folks are paying out today.

Maybe $200.00 interest on their car payment, $700.00 of interest on their $200K home mortgage. Maybe $1000.00 on 10K of credit card debt.

SO if he has no interest to pay and wants a $400.00 lobster.

He gets to eat something that taste great..

The rest of the folks get to drop their money off at the bank to pay interest.

I would rather eat the Lobster...

ChTatum 06-08-2007 02:29 PM

Who cares?

Where do you come up with this stuff?

chseeads 06-08-2007 02:30 PM

Wow....he had to pay for the Lobster's plane ticket.

SDG 06-08-2007 02:31 PM

Is this like paying 5,000 dollars on a pre-owned organ when old one works just fine ....

Just kidding.

Ferd 06-08-2007 02:32 PM

im confused. was it the visting pastor that ordered the lobster or the pastor who was visited?

and If old boy paid out of his own pocket, then I do not care.

berkeley 06-08-2007 02:34 PM

OUCH!!!!!!!! That has to be painful. :haloplug

Thad 06-08-2007 02:44 PM

It was the pastor who ordered it .

the visiting pastor was shocked and thought it was excessive.

maybe they will post and give you more 411- it will be a lot more enlighening in making you think that perhaps they was right .

you decide

daddyof2 06-08-2007 02:46 PM

If the visiting pastor was having his meal payed for by the pastor, I hope he waited to order after the pastor ordered his lobster. Kind of gives him a price range to pick from. :)

Daniel we had the same Organ for 23 years .

would you drive a car for 23 years non stop and not consider updating when the old car is about to die ?
I don't see the comparison

Well someone might see the parallel. :ernie

OP_Carl 06-08-2007 02:54 PM

Somebody once said about another seemingly expensive extravegance, "why was not this sold for money, and given to the poor?"

If it wasn't your money, it isn't your problem. Except that it is your problem, in that you are obsessed with what other people do with their money.

Or you're just trying to stir the pot. I can respect that. 'Other people are here for your amusement' is an excellent Dilbert principle.

:lol This reminds me of the time I went out with Mrs. Pianoman to entertain execs of a large corporation here in Nashville. We went to The Palm downtown Nashville. Anyways...they said the special for the day was 5 lb lobster. Each executive ordered the Lobster! I thought I would follow suit, but Mrs. Pianoman kicked me real hard in the shin! I had to order a measly steak! ha!

The meal ended up costing about $1,600!!!!! I thought Mrs. Pianoman was going to croke!! :lol

GodsBabyGirl 06-08-2007 02:57 PM

Good to see ya posting, Thaddeus!

Ya still got too much time on ya hands, uh?:haloplug

I happen to have a 23 year old car. What's wrong with a 23 year old car? It gets me where I am going without having to make a payment, except for the gas. It ain't much to look at though.

Elizabeth 06-08-2007 03:07 PM

I think its rude to be a GUEST minister and expect your host to pay that extravagant amount for a meal!

She knows I'm on this forum, but she doesn't want me on it when she's around! I don't complain when I'm 'made' to go out to Ruth Cris' Steak House with her clients! :)

Trouvere 06-08-2007 03:30 PM

What did the lobster come over from Aussie by itself on the boat? haha..it was probably frozen. You can get New Zealand lamb for much less.

oh...there goes all my dreams of an extravagant lifestyle going down the drain....where is MOW when you need him with that rich expensive red car????

Hesetmefree238 06-08-2007 03:56 PM

A $400 Lobster is pretty extravagant and wasteful to me. I can't picture
any of the apostles doing this. Now, I realize we live in a different world, than
they did, and there is more wealth in our society than what they had, but
still a $400 Lobster meal, I would be embarrassed.

I wonder if he paid for it or if it was charged to a church expense account.

I know a pastor, (won't name names), that got a $1.5 million dollar blessing given to him personally. Would it be extravagant for him to spend $400 on lobster?

If a person receives a 1.5 million dollar gift and he wants to eat a $400 Lobster dinner or
take a trip around the world, more power to him.

Rico 06-08-2007 04:10 PM

Ok, well, maybe the pastor of this church is wealthy and can afford $400 lobster.
