Word Preacher's idea
On another thread WordPreacher talks about allowing God to pick a marriage partner for you...how many people truly believe that God picks someone out for you?
*If so, how would you know? or, how does He do it? Blessings, Rhoni P.S. I'll post my reply from the other thread. |
The question is: How does God do this? He trusts you to learn from your elders, be taught by your church leadership, and learn from studying Godly/healthy relationships.
God gives you his spirit and when the person you are attracted to loves God like you love God, shows fruits of the spirt, is not led by lust of the flesh, lust of the eye, or pride of life, and you respect and admire her...good chances are... Truth is: God doesn't wish on you someone you think is unattractive but he gives you sensitivity to the spirit, and when you live in the spirit you are better equipped to make a good decision for your life partner for yourself. God doesn't have a couples list with your mate on it...he does though, see the future and knows the choices you will make. Blessings, Rhoni |

How do you know it isn't just you?

Like I said, I didn't choose my mate, but He did choose my mate for me. That's why I know my wife is God's will for me. I would not trust a human in something like that, especially myself. |

Another way that I know that I didn't pick my wife is because we are total opposites, but we fit together like a glove. You would have to know how I am to understand how I didn't pick my wife. I left it up to God years ago and He chose the wife that He wanted me to have. |

Wordpreacher, Thank-you for sharing your experience. I don't doubt that you believe this but I have my doubts about why/how God would care to do such a thing. There are too many personal factors involved. I've had dreams, prophecies that have been directed to me/at me, and I think I ate too much pizza...hence the dreams...and the spirit of the prophet is subject to the prophet. If he makes a miscall then he is not really a prophet. The man and woman choose each other...I am not sure there is much 'spiritual' about it. Doubting Rhoni:sshhh |
Rhoni, just because it has not been your experience does not mean it is not so.

Try praying and fasting to seek God about these things. I can tell you about some things that I have discerned about people and found it to be true. There were things that I thought it was something that I was thinking, but found out that it was discernment. Not all dreams are from God and you have to seek God about it to find out which ones are from Him. Quote:
I believe that there would be less divorces with Apostolics if they allow God to choose the mate that He wants them to have, because God's will is the only sure way to do things. That's why I don't do anything without praying about it and making sure it is God's will. This is something that some Apostolics don't get, but it is so typical. |

BTW, my son wants God to pick his wife for him, because that is what he believes in, which is so awesome. |

I believe that God had a plan for my life before I was ever even thought of or conceived in the womb of my mother.
I believe the same thing in regard to my husband who has the call and anointing of God on his life. I believe that God put us together in order that His will, plan and purpose would be carried out specifically. I don't believe in "coincidence" in regard to the will of God when two people are sold out to God and when He has called and "chosen" and marked them for service to Him. I believe that if you are praying for the will of God and are submitted to the plan and purpose of God in your own life that God will bring 2 people together so that their lives will blend, harmonize and be spent for the kingdom and for the achievement of the purpose of God. |

I agree with Felicity on this on.
My husband had a dream years before we met.He saw himself in a conference with a woman(didn't see her face) behind the pulpit playing guitar. His girlfriend at the time played guitar a little but she was not a minister. When he met me he did not know I play guitar. He found that out later.lol.In general discussion of the call of God on our lives it was brought out that God had given us a burden for the same area of the world. We are working on that burden presently. I do think God puts people together.I don't think it means that there isn't a plan B if it fails though. |
