Missed Jury Summons
I have rescheduled my jury summons twice which is the maximum in a 6 month period. I forgot about the summons until I got up this morning.
My husband said get dressed they may come and get you at the door. I have emailed them as that is my last resource since the phone is recorded message and I can't contact a living body. Anyone else have any suggestions. P.S. They lock the doors 15 minutes after your due time. |
oops - -
I'm sure you could have your doctor help get you out of this - - he can tell them you've been on heavy medication.....lol! |
I was summoned... even made it to where they pick the jury... I was NOT picked!!! so I don't go anymore... and I am summoned like 3x a yr!!!

Jury Duty is the only right that you can be arrested for not taking advantage of.
But... I do think that Jury Duty is very important though. Especially when one understands the concept of Jury Nullification. But don't mention that phrase while you are still in the jury pool or you will be eliminated. Here is some excellent reading on the subject. The Citizens Rule Book |
My husband got it rescheduled for next Monday.
He said get dressed! You don't want them to come in here and haul you off in your gown do you? :) Bless his heart he does worry about some things. |

But... back to the subject...
The jury system is last power the people have when all other checks & balances have been abused. When the law of the land goes against it's given authority then the jury has the right... yea even the duty... to judge the law. At a jury trial, these days, you will be told that you are not here to judge the law... you are here to judge whether this person broke the law as it stands. 2 words... "they lie" A juror can judge the law and hold the law prisoner by withholding a guilty verdict and entering not guilty. Of course if they get even an inkling that you are aware of your power, authority and responsibility as a juror you will not be picked. |

Last year I tried to get out of it because of my health issues, but they did not accept that without a doctors order. By the time I found out it was too late. I called in and discovered that they had not even gotten to my lot yet before they had picked a jury so it was no big deal |
