I'm currently on Lesson 11, and all the lessons thus far have been really good. Lesson 5 has impacted me the most. Here are some notes I wrote about Lesson 5, "Preach and Heal." I highly recommend people watch it. Some of the notes here are things I've added while studying the lesson.

Preach and Heal

Matthew 4:23 "And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people."

Matthew 9:35 "And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people."

We see that Jesus went throughout many cities and villages doing two things:
1. Preaching the Gospel of the Kingdom
2. Healing every sickness and every disease

The Greek word for "Sickness" is "Nosos," which means: A chronic or Incurable ailment. The Greek word for "Disease" is "Malakia," which means: A condition which weakens or disables. (My note)

Jesus healed them all.

Matthew 8:16 "When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick"

Matthew 12: 15 "But when Jesus knew it, he withdrew himself from thence: and great multitudes followed him, and he healed them all;"

Matthew 14:14 "And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick."

Matthew 15:30 "And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus' feet; and he healed them:"

Matthew 21:14 "And the blind and the lame came to him in the temple; and he healed them."

Not one of these verses show that Jesus missed healing someone; He healed every sickness and every disease.

Jesus died for our sins, but also for our healing.

1 Peter 2:24 "Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed."

Isaiah 53:5 "But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed."

Matthew 8:17 "That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses."

We believe and preach that Jesus died for our sins, but little is preached about Jesus also dying for our healing.

Jesus' commandment to the Disciples, the Seventy and all nations:

To the Disciples, Jesus said:
Matthew 10:1 "And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease."
Verse 5 "These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying,.."
Verses 7-8 "preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give."

To the Seventy, Jesus said:
Luke 10:1 "After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come."
Verse 9 "And heal the sick that are therein, and say unto them, The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you."

All of us are included:
Matthew 28:19-20 "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen"

What did Jesus command His Disciples? To preach the Gospel of the Kingdom and to heal the sick. We are included in Jesus' commandment to His disciples to "teach all nations...to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you."

Jesus has commanded that we, too, preach the Gospel of the Kingdom and heal the sick.

1 Peter 2:21 "For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:"

We are to follow in His steps.

Our traditions have held us back from obedience to Jesus' commandment.

Jesus warned against rejecting His commandment to continue following our traditions:

Mark 7:9 "Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition."
Mark 7:13 "Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered:"

The reason we do not see more healings and miracles in our churches is because most churches are more interested in keeping tradition than obeying God's commandment.

I know he believes in baptism in Jesus Name and receiving the Holy Ghost. Sometimes he says "God the Father," so I'm not sure if he's trinitarian or Oneness, but he is strong Acts 2:38, New Birth experience.

The reason we do not see more healings and miracles in our churches is because most churches are more interested in keeping tradition than obeying God's commandment.

I understand what you're saying, and what the scriptures say. The question is though, who was Jesus talking to when He gave the commandment to go out and preach, heal the sick etc...? Now I'm sure you will agree that Jesus was talking to those disciples and His twelve apostles specifically in the 1st century. But was Jesus also giving that same commandment to ALL disciples from the 1st century to the 21st century and beyond?

I personally don't believe He was giving the command to go out and preach the gospel, heal the sick, raise the dead etc... to every single soul that would enter His kingdom.

If you'll notice even in the first century church, not every disciple went out to preach and heal as the apostles, prophets, and evangelists did. And the most we see Jesus sending out to preach and heal were the seventy two.

The scriptures tell us that each one receives a gift for the edification and building up of the body of Christ as the Spirit wills.

Paul writes in Romans 12:3-8

For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith. For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function, so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another. Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith; or ministry, let us use it in our ministering; he who teaches, in teaching; he who exhorts, in exhortation; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness."

Paul also gave the list of the gifts of the Spirit in 1st Corinthians 12, which we all know well.

And in 1st Corinthians 12:27-30

"Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually. And God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, varieties of tongues. Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all workers of miracles? Do all have gifts of healings? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret?

Of course the answer to Paul's question are ALL apostles, prophets, teachers, have gifts of healings etc.....is no.

The New Testament scriptures do not teach, nor did Jesus say that ALL Christians for ALL time, should go out and preach the gospel, heal the sick, and perform miracles etc.....

What all believers who have born of water and Spirit need to do is find out what gift they have been given by the Spirit and seek God to be used of Him to exercise those gifts for the building up and edification of the body of Christ.

For any man/woman to proclaim or teach that ALL Christians can and should preach the gospel, heal the sick and do miracles is error, and a contradiction to what the scriptures say.

What every Christian is called to do is bear fruit, not fruit of converting people to Christ as many believe and teach, but the fruits of the Spirit.

John 15:2

Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit.

Tyrone - what is your take on Mark 16:17-18?

17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;

18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

Your stated belief posted above is that healing isn't for everyone, spanning all time; however, Mark 16 is for "them that believe," which arguably includes current believers.

Have you heard that Mark 16:9-20 may have been added later and that the two oldest Greek manuscripts do not contain 9-20?

I'm not saying that God can't use any believer to lay hands on a sick person and make them well, but the scriptures don't show us that any believer can heal, preach, and do miraculous signs and wonders on a daily basis.

On the other hand we see in scripture Jesus, the apostles and Philip the evangelist doing supernatural works and preaching on a daily basis.

Now when the scriptures show somebody being healed, as you know, it was far more than just a back ache, head ache, or a little pain in the knee etc.....

Torben shows a lot of new converts praying for people with minor aches and pains, a shortened leg etc....but how about somebody paralyzed in a wheel chair? Or born blind? Let's see somebody healed with one arm or leg, let's see the limb grow out supernaturally right before our eyes, now that's healing!

How about some children and adults in the hospital with terminal cancer? I'm sure you understand what I'm saying here.

James 5:14-15 tells us

"Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven."

It seems to me there are different levels of healing, laying hands on the sick and seeing them recover or raised up by the Lord is different from being healed of leprosy instantaneously or seeing a cripple person getting up off the floor and walking after forty years. Although it can all be classified as 'healing'.

Perhaps a lot of people don't get healed because of unbelief.

Mark 6:5-6

"Now He could do no mighty work there, except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them. And He marveled because of their unbelief. Then He went about the villages in a circuit, teaching."

Is not always unbelief the reason somebody not getting healed.
For example look Paul. He prayed 3 times but God told him that he does not heal him for two reasons.
1_Dont be proud of the big revelation he had (so to protect him)
2) To be under his feet always knowing that in his powerless God reveals his power.

Paul was GIVEN a thorn in his flesh by God Himself in order to keep him humble because of the abundance of revelations he had received. He asked God to TAKE IT AWAY from him because the thorn was very painful I'm sure!

That's totally different from somebody being born blind, or having leprosy and crying out to God to be healed of their condition.

Τhat is waht i am saysing . Is not all se in one.
There is Paul`s case/
Timothy`s case
Blind man`s case "nobody sinned yet he is blind" "for the glory of God be revealed.
The "go and sin no more" case.
The "i forgive your sins" case , yet he became cured just because Jesus wanted to reveal his authority to forgive to Pharisees.
And so on... So the will of God is very unlimited :)

Why would saying "God the Father" perhaps indicate he is a Trinitarian rather than Oneness? After all the Son of God addressed God as his Father.

I agree with Tyrone to a point. Its obvious there is an anointing on Apostles that is greater than the "average" believer. They will get more spectacular results.

But dont let that stop us from praying for people. We will also get results. If a healing happens of headaches, arthritis conditions or any thing that causes someone pain thats a good thing!

Praise God we have seen various diseases healed by Jesus.

I agree Mike, but many times people get caught up in signs and wonders just like in Jesus day, but don't care about the salvation of their souls!

God worked through Jesus and the apostles to heal hundreds, maybe thousands of people, but how many of those healed truly gave their souls to Jesus afterward?

So you can have mighty works of healing being done or a simple headache healed, but the soul of the person is never touched, even though the body is made well.

I'm just weary of anyone who comes along with the same circus, look at me were healing people, we're baptizing people, etc.... if you want me to believe you are called to heal and preach, then do what Jesus did, proclaim the gospel of the kingdom, cast out demons, raise the dead, cleanse the lepors.

Show me the video of Torben going into a leprosy camp and healing them all with just a touch of his finger or a word spoken from his mouth without touching them at all. That's what Jesus and the apostles did, and then they dealt with the soul of the person, give me the whole counsel of God!

What do you think about such a movement, brother Michael?

It is of God. The man is MOVING WITH GOD. He has come a long way from where he started. If and when men cease MOVING toward God that movement is no longer a "movement".

Hey Mike you should check out this video, you may change your mind about Torben and the last reformation movement. I don't agree with all the woman who used to be a hypnotist says, but she puts together a few videos that makes a great case against Torben, including using some Darren Brown clips. The shortened leg trick is definitely exposed!

Sure do! Started speaking in tongues when I was baptized in the Holy Spirit ten years ago! Praise the Lord!

According to this video the entire Pentecostal/Charismatic movement is not of God. Tongues, healing is all just fakery. I have to much experience in God to be interested in THEIR MOVEMENT.

I have seen the guy who made the video before. I would like to have a link to his channel.

As far as the WAY Torben or others pray for people is between them and God. I ask are people truly being healed? Are they truly repenting? Are they being baptized in Jesus name? Are they receiving the Holy Spirit?

Does all of this lead to people living for Jesus? Obedience to his word? Spending time with him in the secret place?

Believe me Ty I have seen fakery and disobedience and fleshly manifestations many times. I believe myself that much Charismatic/Pentecostal stuff is not of the Spirit.

It is hard to judge Torben or others because we are not there to see the fruit of their lives. So for the moment I would side with him before taking the word of one who seems to reject ANY manifestation of the gifts.

The woman calls him a hypnotist but questions whether he knows he is?

Ty do you believe in speaking in tongues? Practice it?
