Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, Inc.
We're these PAW's once a conservative organisation like our UPCI Standards?
Or am I mistaken? |

Re: Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, Inc.
I'm not so sure how conservative they area anymore. It appears after reading and looking at their website pictures there may have been a shift in command?

This Bishop Made this Statement
"While false accusations against our organization are nothing new, we found it necessary to address these rumors and slanderous attacks. Unfortunately our history throughout the years will reflect those who for one reason or another, felt it would better serve their interests to separate from this body and pursue other directions. However, throughout these separations and resignations, " Im not sure why "they" the others left. |

Re: Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, Inc.
I have issues with the PAW due to it allowing Noel Jones to not only remain affiliated with the organization, but to be on its Board of Bishops. A few years ago, Noel had an affair with a married woman which resulted in her getting pregnant and having a child.
The PAW also has a woman Bishop. |

Re: Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, Inc.
I think the PAW IS THE OLDEST oneness org.
The Apostolic Bible Students Association (A.B.S.A.) of Indiana is the 4th Episcopal District of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, Inc. (P.A.W.), the oldest Oneness Pentecostal organization in existence, founded in 1906, and re-organized as a Oneness Pentecostal organization in 1915. The PAW was originally headquartered at Azusa Street in Los Angeles, California, moved to Oregon, and eventually moved to Indianapolis, Indiana where it was legally incorporated and remains today. |
Re: Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, Inc.
Our small UPC church in Los Angeles fellowshipped with a PAW church. We could not visit their church, due to racial tension. But they could safely visit our church.
The standards were different. That was back in 1980. We ignored the differences and had wonderful fellowship. I would venture to suggest the differences are cultural, not theological. But that may best be left to others to decide. |
Re: Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, Inc.
Our UPC church in Milwaukee would fellowship with the PAW church in the city. Great people, we enjoyed the times together. Though they started late and went kind of late.

Re: Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, Inc.
Please no war but I have asked before and never really received a scripture answer: What scriptures do you use for mustaches or facial hair? If someone will tell me, I promise I will only acknowledge your answer and will NOT debate your answer. I have seen some hot debate on here before on other issues but I just read and not respond. Personally, I would not like a mustache or beard on my husband. Thank you. If someone wants to private message me with the scriptures, I will edit this message (if I can) and take it off. PLEASE AGAIN NO WAR JUST SCRIPTURES.

Re: Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, Inc.
There is no discussion of facial hair in the New Testament.

The Bible references facial hair at different places in the scripture. By these references, we can infer that the Messiah had facial hair (beard), since they plucked it off his face. We also know that Aaron the High Priest had facial hair, since the scripture refers to the holy oil that runs down his beard. There are no scriptures, laws, or commandments that are against a holy man having facial hair. Our position against it is mostly based in cultural tradition passed down through since and holy people, who saw it as a sign of worldliness in their generation. I respect the tradition and never intend to have a beard or mustache, however I don't view it as a sin issue. Our church and pastor doesn't preach or teach against it, but generally speaking most align with the tradition that has been passed down to us. Our church is UPC. |

Re: Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, Inc.
The New Testament does not mention if Christ had facial hair or not. Nor does it say his beard was plucked.

Re: Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, Inc.
Messianic prophecy mentions wording along the line that the Messiah's beard will be plucked. I did not look them up. They are not quoted in the NT.
It must not have been important. |
Re: Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, Inc.
The reason facial hair has been taught against is that it is not business professional. How many business leaders do you see with a beard or stash? How many have short hair? How many wear a suit?
I work for an International company and have for 21 years and not one executive has facial hair...not one. So is it too much to ask that you look professional? |

What you're advocating here is that we use secular opinion as some kind of doctrine. Sorry, but "please look like a secular business professional" is not doctrine. :nah |
Re: Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, Inc.
"I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair: I hid not my face from shame and spitting." Isaiah 50:6
Interesting that while the Gospels record Jesus as being smitten and spat upon, it doesn't mention His beard being plucked. Some obviously consider the silence as evidence Jesus had no beard. I side with Isaiah's prophecy even though the NT Gospels are silent. |

Re: Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, Inc.
The problem is it began to be taught as sin over the years.
G.T. Haywood-Seymore-Wigglesworth and others had facial hair. But now these holier-than-thou folks know better. Strain at gnats and swallow camels. Hippies are gone--now it's gays with clean shaven faces and bodies. Now what? |
