Any experience with Jehovah Witnesses?

Just got visited. Had an interesting conversation with them about Jesus being God, the name, and some other things.

Does anyone have experience witnessing to them? Successfully? Need advice as I invited them to come have church with us (!) and told them I'd love to do a Bible study with them (not sure how well they will handle me... lol).

Re: Any experience with Jehovah Witnesses?

They invited me to church for bible "talk", they said it was open for q and a. I might have ONE chance to ask a question that will plant a seed, something that cannot be easily answered. Maybe someone there will get to thinking "Hmm..."?

Re: Any experience with Jehovah Witnesses?

To be honest Jehovah's Witnesses are so indoctrinated and discouraged from open mindedness that I've rarely or never heard of a success with q's and a's, discussions or debates... If you are aggressive they leave right away, if you are passive or at least kindly assertive they'll say something like, "Well it's good to at least know there's people searching for God in the Bible." The only real victories I've heard from friends involves sharing personal testimonies and/or praying for the Jehovah Witnessess kinda against their will and they just receive the Holy Ghost with their eyes finally opened.

If you want them to get a melt down, just show them all of the 'God inside Christ' verses.

They "trip hard" on that.

I had one begin to visibly shake after I showed him a few of these verses.

They are taught that Jesus is Michael the Archangel.

When they see that "Jehovah" was inside the body of Jesus, their foundation crumbles before your eyes.

Re: Any experience with Jehovah Witnesses?

It has been several years ago now, but I would see the same jw's in my apartment complex and I would be friendly to them, but never allowed them to witness to me.

One day, I struck up a conversation with two of them and invited them to a mutual Bible Study at my apartment.

The day came for the appointment and they were on time. I invited them in, we exchanged pleasantries and I graciously offered to allow them to speak first.

They gave their presentation and I had a question at one point. However, they asked that I hold my questions until the end. I did what they asked, writing down my questions.

They did not give an answer to the questions I had-- there were two of them. The one guy spoke, said some stuff, but never addressed either of my questions.

When it came time for me to present, within the literal first two minutes of my presentation, they interrupted me. I politely asked them to hold their questions until the end. During the first fine minutes of my presentation, one guy interrupted me three more times and actually became rude and raised his voice towards me.

I asked the both of them to leave my apartment.

Ever since then, I do not give jw's the time of day. I stop short of being rude to them, but I purposefully DO NOT wish them to have a good day when I see them.

They are spreading false doctrines and abominable heresies that diminish the Deity of Jesus Christ. They reduce His Sonship to one of a glorified man.

I do not consider any of them saved and I do not have a brother or sister in the jw ranks.

They are led and inspired by satan.

The jw's are damned.

When I had two of them in my apartment, I attempted to speak with them about the Identity of Jesus Christ as GOD ALMIGHTY.

In fact, if I remember correctly, the one thing we were able to find initial common ground was with our assertions that the doctrine of the Trinity was a man-made, unbiblical construct.

I am more Trinitarian today, but back then, I considered myself anti-Trinitarian-- genuinely loving the people who believed in it, but hating the doctrine, Catholicism and all the evil the two of them represented in my mind.

Re: Any experience with Jehovah Witnesses?

I have seen some success with taking their Bible and showing them that they can receive the Holy Ghost.
However, this only lasts until their pastor becomes involved.

Re: Any experience with Jehovah Witnesses?

I have had success in confusing them enough to question themselves. Many times I like to use this verse.

Psalms 22:22
I will declare thy name unto my brethren: in the midst of the congregation will I praise thee“I will declare your name to my brothers and sisters;
in the assembly I will sing your praises.”
.

They love to use Old Testament to prove their doctrine. So I'll use it in the New Testament context.

Hebrews 2:12
“I will declare your name to my brothers and sisters;
in the assembly I will sing your praises.”

The word "declare" is a declarative announcement! Not as yet been revealed.

Then I ask, if the Jew believed Jehovah was God's name. What name was revealed unto them?

Acts 4:12
Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Matthew 1:21
And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins.

Many times we have had them promise to come back for Bible study, but after they get back to their enclave they never return.

The JWs are an interesting bunch. I worked for a JW construction company in the 80s for 2 years of my apprenticeship. I was surrounded by them and had to stay out of town with them. They even fired me as soon as I won a guy to the Lord, but hired me back the next day, because my foreman threatened them....LOL

I tell them that I never saw the accident.

Usually rates a blank stare and a hasty retreat!

They came to the door as I was translating a image of papyrus 45. I handed it to them and asked them to translate it.

They could not, but they were very interested to meet someone with such skills. One of them actually came back to check on me.

The Mormon boys were also interested to meet a translator.

They were good visits.

Re: Any experience with Jehovah Witnesses?

I have been in discussions with some on a FB group called "theology matters" Christian theology and discussions.
Go over there and you will see I just post a scripture I have not been able to get a straight answer out of them as it destroys their concept about who Jesus is.

BTW. They are very indoctrinated and try to tag team when they get stumped, which is not a bad thing, but they are organized, just wrong.
They attempt to distract, deny, distort or dilute the bible in order to create doubt or confusion in one's mind, then they have the answers to the confusion.
They are real big on disproving the trinity, and it can be done, but they don't have a lot of arguments against the Oneness take on things. They try to cause doubt on the KJV and all other versions as it was written by trinitarians with a bias. I explained to them their version has a bias, but I as a oneness believer didn't need to alter the bible to fit my view as my view is found IN the trinitarian translated versions. lol

They don't really trip hard on that as they discount and explain away so much and when that doesn't work, they altered their
bible to support their view.

Not JW,
My wife was a devout Mormon for 15 yrs when we met. I had only been in church 1 yr but had the Holy Ghost and was baptized in Jesus Name.

Long story short, I was jumped in an alley and suffered multiple sub arachnoid brain hemorrhages. I was hit with a pipe 15 times in the face and head. Up to that day in our dating relationship we had debated over and over about the bible. She had church elders calling me and even convinced me to go to a service to check it out. I went and slipped into and high priest meeting or some big shindig with old men only. About 60 total I guess.

The guy said that "God told Elijah to kill the prophets of Baal. I raised my hand and they were so upset. That I would interrupt but I was a new convert I had guts and knew he was wrong. So I said "The bible doesn't say that" he was disgusted and said sure it does, and preceded to read it in front of everybody and stopped in mid verse and said with a tomato red face. "Oh it doesn't say that, you are right" I said thanks and told them that I just prayed before walking in there " God if this church is right then show me and if its wrong show me."

So I grabbed my bible and walked out!

The debate with my girl friend continued on and on. For about 6 months. I was in the wrong place at the wrong time doing the wrong thing. and got caught up in an alley with some old Ganstr. and he turned on me and surprised me and tried to out me. With a pipe.

(This is my wife's story of what happened.)
That night I was rushed to the hospital and on life support. Revived several times throughout the night. My girl friend was contacted while at work and she stood at the side of the only thing she had in life. Mangled and bleeding, cut and bruised.

The doctors said I wont make it through the night. They asked my scared shaking crying girl friend to leave because we weren't married and weren't fam. Her family disowned her because of their family tradition and culture and her Boyfriend was Mexican. With a long pony tail. LOL

(I think the pony tail was the straw breaker.)

(This is my wife's story of what happened.)
Seriously, She left broken knowing only that I was in a coma. They said if I was to recover I'd be a vegetable all my life. She got to the apartment, knelt at her beside, and had an "all night prayer meeting." She plead with God to Bring me back to life. She said Jesus I believe what my boyfriend has been telling me about you, I believe you are 1. If you would save his life I will give you my life, and she completely surrendered to him that night. God gave a scripture John 14:14 - If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

She arrive at the Hospital the next morning feeling different. She went to the ICU to see me. She came to the nurses desk and asked for me and asked my condition. They told her that I came out of my coma a couple hours earlier. My wife said how/ and they said we cant explain it, some man walked into you boyfriends room and he sat up in his bed and began to talk to the man as if he knew him. They prayed and the man left, your boyfriend laid down and he is resting but in stable condition!

The next several months as a quadriplegic was intense. I had to learn how to eat, use my hands my toes my arms everything. They kept saying Id never lift my head , then Id lift my head. They'd say Ill never count again, then Id count. They said Ill never walk then I ran. The doctors said it was a complete miracle to have that much blood in my brain and to have recovered.
(That is my wife's story)

The only thing I remember was witnessing to everyone about what God had done for me.

(That is my wife's story)
I taught bible studies from my hospital bed, when I didn't know my name I knew who Jesus Was!

To this day we have no idea who that man was that prayed for my in my room that morning. At the time my pastor was out of the country and I was 700 miles away from home.

That was 18 yrs ago, To God Be the Glory!!

So the end is My EX-Mormon wife is a Godly Apostolic mother in Zion, that prays for her kids, husbands ministry and the city God has burdened our hearts for.

What do you want to do? Win the argument, or win them to Christ?

The JW's have ONE truth: if we use that one truth and leave the rest to the
Lord, some may come around to ALL TRUTH.
The "truth" they have is the NAME of promise;
The "truth" we have is the NAME that has fulfilled the promises!

YAH-weh (Je-hova): is the NAME of promise.
YAH-shua (Je-sus): the NAME in which all promises are fulfilled.

Don't invite them to meet your pastor: they will invite you to meet theirs;
Don't invite them to church: they will only invite you to theirs;
Just plant the seed, and TRUST the Lord will do the rest.

Re: Any experience with Jehovah Witnesses?

So I take it there is very little experience here in AFF of sharing the gospel with JWs?

I don't mean just trying to trip them up, I mean actually working with them to help them see the Truth.

I hope some more people with experience in this mission field would come forward and share their experiences.

Speaking with the two ladies who came by earlier today, I was told I was the first person they had encountered in a long time who was willing to both discuss scripture with them and do it in a friendly way. (See? Us "conservative" types can be friendly without compromising anything!)

As stated previously, I was invited to their kingdom hall. I may need to take them up on the offer, be the "student with lots of questions" and maybe God will water a seed or two...

it is when one stops truly being the student, and imagines they are a teacher, that they become useless to God. Just cure a JW of some terminal disease, and all the witnesses will convert to whatever you are! :lol

wadr, you cursed them, and i can quote it. I am not trying to get into another pointless session of changing someone's mind here, but i will suggest that no JWs have yet gone to hell based upon your judgement--at least not that you can prove--and perhaps judging people on their doctrine rather than their fruit is the wrong approach.

My favorite place to take them (in their own Bible, unless they've changed it by now) is Rev 1:8, which they will say is Jehovah, and then vs 17-18. I then ask them when Jehovah died.

Re: Any experience with Jehovah Witnesses?

You can try to plant a seed, usually one on one. Without prayer it is hard to reach them anyway. If they are not hungry it is impossible.

Usually the ones coming to your door are doing their little honor things to build up enough points to be called a witness. They are hard to reach because they are not hungry.

Hunger is the key. (Matt 5)

I don't mess with anybody if they aren't hungry. If the Spirit leads me to talk with them then I will. If they come to me and have a desire to learn then I speak with them. Otherwise, don't waste your time with people that aren't hungry.

This goes with any denomination.

I'm sorry brother Esaiah,
I can't speak about JW's, but God has used this to open the doors of many of the Mormon persuasion we have talked to.

I do have a friend who is Apostolic for 2 1/2 years now, and his wife is Jehovah's Witness.

I'll let you know how that works out.

Surely there's a testimony of a converted JW to apostolic.

Apparently not to you!

I also do not know of any successes with JW conversion. I had one years ago that was agreeing with me and amazed by the scriptures I was sharing. His older handler ended the visit abruptly and despite the younger ones comment that he would be back I never saw them again.

Same thing happened a few years later with an older woman and her younger counter part. This time the older woman abruptly told me I was confused about God, insinuated I was crazy while heading for the door with the doubting friend in tow. I assured them that I would welcome a future visit but they never came back.

At any rate this blog post by an Apostolic has some ideas. https://apostoliconenesspentecostals...ahs-witnesses/

????

Bro, the jw's are heretics. They are not Christians. They are unsaved. Lost. Cursed.

Until they come to a saving faith in Jesus Christ, they will die in their sins.

My language concerning the jw's and mormons is strong, but it is my opinion of them, based on the Bible.

They change/add to the scriptures. I have no tolerance for their doctrines. They are CLEARLY HERETICAL.
