Flee Sodom

We used to point out the error of Lot pitching his tent toward Sodom. But modern thinking says, "Oh Lot did the right thing! Just think of all the souls he can reach in Sodom".

But we forget that the culture of Sodom destroyed his family. I say FLEE SODOM! Above all, we must save our kids from the influence of Sodom, even if it means a literal, geographical re-location. If at all possible, adjust your lifestyle so you can home school or send them to private school. That is not a guarantee your child will stay on the right path, but at least they won't be around as much Sodom influence.

In addition, point your kids towards accredited Christian colleges. Don't throw your kids to the godless professors who hate you and all you stand for.

amen! While of course most people who read that will not do it, one must follow Lot, or make a deal with the devil.

The Pastor of the church I visited today preached that we needed to come out and stay out of Babylon!

Amen! Government-run schools are growing exponentially worse, both academically and morally. It is utter fantasy to expect your child to not experience at least some negative effects from this environment.

Read The Case for Classical Christian Education, by Douglas Wilson. His Logos School also has some great homeschooling packages if expensive private school isn't an option.

Re: Flee Sodom

Growing up I was a product of the public schools and proud of it.
My mother taught in public schools for over 25 years.
My children were blessed to attend the elementary school where she taught and it was a great school.
However, my work situation required a cross-country move.
We carefully moved into a school district which was known for its educational prowess.
They finished in the top 5 percent of the country in standardized testing, every year.
A year and a half later we were so fed-up with them we took our children out and home schooled them.
A lot of stories there, but their ACT scores were 33 and 27 when they took it.
They are both married, working, ministering and doing great, today.

Public schools encourage the culture of Sodom. 'Nuff said.

Ya'll are deluded. Just as much fornication happens in Christian Schools as in public schools. I was in public school. The apostolic church I went to had a Christian school. Many of the teenagers I went to church with went to that Christian School.

Tons of fornication. Even in the church bathroom. Even on the youth van with the youth pastor driving down the road. Maybe my experience isn't typical, but I'm willing to bet that stuff like this happens all the time.

It's pretty much the same story for me. Drugs, alcohol, fornication, bullying & not just by the students. Many of the kids had been kicked out of public school. It was not a pleasant experience. I don't think every christian school is like that, but I do think a lot of people are easily misled by the "christian" part.

Definitely can be that way. I believe the issue is that many churches start schools that turn into baby sitting services.

But it's not encouraged like it is in the classrooms of public schools by the teachers. Sorry, big difference. Kids will be kids. Bit when its teachers and school leaders... Seriously?

Your experience is more typical than not. I too was raised in public school, my children spent some time in Christian education, but finished and graduated from public school. And all serve God today, with no adverse affects.
On the other hand I have seen more Christian school graduated that cannot function in the world they live in because of being in Christian school.

The biggest thing that gets me is crying separation, yet not really meaning it. It one wants to separate from the world they should become like the Amish, and truly separate from the world, else they are just being hypocritical.

And although scripture does say come out from among them, it also says that we are in the world but not of the world. And in all of this we seem to fail to look at the greatest example given to us in the ministry of Christ.
