Heart of Worship Nasvhille 2016 (April 20-23, 2016

Are any AFFer's attending the 2016 Heart of Worship gathering in Nashville this week?

There are public concerts tonight (Thursday 4/21) and tomorrow night (Friday 4/22). The Goodlettsville Pentecostal church is hosting this event. (A UPC church just outside of Nashville, TN)

http://theheartofworship.net/

I will probably be there for the Friday night concert. I would be there tonight as well but it is probably a little over an hour from my home and I work tomorrow.

Drive on over tomorrow! You can spend the night at my house. (of course I am still an hour away from the event. LOL)

Sorry, with all the "safe space" stuff happening on various university campuses, I thought it was funny.

Nothing against the conference.

Oh! Got it. Maybe they mean it is a safe place from "micro aggression"! If that is the case I will have to make sure I don't joke about them being in "bundage"! LOL

Bundage - a term some liberal exUPCer's use to refer to those conservative Pentecostals maintaining the legalistic laundry list of extra biblical dress codes. A play on words combining "bondage" with "bun" referring to the hair buns many pentecostal women use to contain their long uncut hair.

The term is usually used in a lighthearted joking way but not taken that way. Probably the term I have seen draw the most ire from old time Pentecostals who believe it is said with hate, bitterness, etc, etc ad nauseam.

The conservative counter part most often used is probably the term "greasy grace" where conservative pentecostals infer that those without the legalistic standards and who do not believe in the 3 step salvation plan "let anything go" or "believe one can do anything and live without any rules or regulations and be saved". Of course this does not in any way actually reflect the vast majority of liberals theology but it makes conservatives feel better and I just think it is funny.

I think the real question is will there be a tribute to Prince at tonights concert? If not a song perhaps some purple lighting? (if AFF had emoticons there would be a smiley face here)

You will be happy to know that I have never heard the term "greasy grace" at either a UPC or WPF meeting. Or while speaking with members of either group. The only place I have heard it is on here.
And while I get the term "bundage", I think it went out in the 70's. Don't see too many hair buns around, anymore!

The Goodlettsville Pentecostal church is a beautiful contemporary facility that is just 3 years old. I obviously didn't get to tour the whole building tonight but the sanctuary and restroom facilities, foyer, etc were all very nice.

I got see see one old college acquaintance and a preachers son from my youth who it turns out lives not far from me.

I enjoyed the praise and worship music tonight and know that the participants in this weeks worship conference were blessed as well.

Lighthearted when they do it, bad spirited when the conservative does it.

The United States' Christianity is burning wreckage. But alas, I must say it is well deserved. The Pendulum swings so wildly, back and forth, goth, emo, scene, young people experimenting with homosexuality, and transgenderism. Bathrooms and locker rooms become unisex. Same sex marriage is acceptable on so many levels, yet Ex-UPC is still whining about standards, and Acts 2:38. Legalists??? Because long sleeves, long dresses, uncut hair? Seriously? Yet, the youth of the United States are circling the drain at a rapid rate? Oh they have a dress code alright, it isn't some dirty hippy look, but it's a look, and it's a standard.

No inference, the conservative just looks at the conclusion. The Ex-UPCer just believes in a unisex congregation. As time goes on you guys will all look the same. Instead of old MeMaws looking old, you will have MeMaws who no longer even look like MeMaws. But look like old women dressed like either old men or teenagers heading for Spring Break. :vomit

No, it doesn't make a conservative feel anything other than sadness on how this country and her culture is lost as a goose in a windstorm. It's bad man, when the youth look like Anime. Yet, the liberal preachers think it's awesome just as long as a the youth's Death Metal band has Jesus in its lyrics?

Yeah, Goth, Emo, Scene, and Metal Pentecost!

We are free from legalism???

They have a standard, but this one will be incorporated into the Industrial Church Complex.

A typically overblown reaction. Apparently you think anything that is not buns, no makeup, no jewelry is accepting homosexuality, immorality, etc, etc. Nothing could be further from the truth in the case of my church anyway.

Your post reminds me of the ultra con method of arguing against makeup years ago by posting pics of Tammy Faye Bakker and Jan Crouch as if that was the only way makeup could be used.

Nice try but no prize for you. I did expect a knee jerk typical reaction and you fulfilled my expectation.

Really? The youth's style of today with a deeper move into unisex can be compared with Tammy and Jan? While they both looked like guys in drag, they at least were recognizably female? Bro, you are heading into a Brave New World Order. Unless your church meets under the peach tree on shady lane you are missing the hoedown. But that's typical Churchanity, where everyone comes together to read entire books of the Bible, while the song remains the same? So, CC1, what's the name of your church's death metal band? :heeheehee

Didn't I post that when the liberal says it, it is light hearted clean fun, but when the conservative says it, it is mean spirited? Well, people do calm their cognitive dissonance when they play the victim. :heeheehee

So, sad. Hey, but you have God's grace on boy sitting on the front row wearing eyeliner and black fingernails. Make up? Bro, if you still think we are dealing with a Jan Crouch Tammy Faye argument then you need a quadruple venti black.

No, but to flip it back on you, apparently you believe that anything that is buns, no makeup, no jewelry is Stalag 17?

Like I said when the liberal says it, it's light fun, but when the conservative fires back, it is hateful? Good luck with that.

Hey, thanks for the little qualifier. Not my church, my church is different, my church is right, my church would never do those things. Yeah sure. ;)

Like I said recently I hope everything goes well, for everyone. But the change from traditional to whatever they are calling it now, doesn't look like it made that much of a difference at least in this country. Calvary Chapel started with the Jesus Freak movement of the 1960s, and it has morphed into a corporate Church of Starbucks. Is that what Jesus and Paul really had in mind? Seriously? CC1, your church doesn't have the numbers of Calvary Chapel. They are blowing and going, even after having its pioneer pastor committing adultery with the women in his 20,000 family church. Is that what the Apostle Paul had in mind? Really? :nah

Around these parts, the term wasn't greasy grace. It was "sloppy agape".
