National Parks: US's Best Idea

On PBS this week. It's a Ken Burns documentary. Do yourself a favor and watch it. Magnificent.

Are National Parks in the Constitution?

Yes or no? And if yes, WHERE?

My dad use to say the same thing?

I never asked him why.

Interesting that you would post this.

Also you were right on William Cooper, that has to be his quote. Because I for the life of me cannot find it among the writings of Xenophon. You have my apologies.

I'm sure somebody thought of the idea long before Cooper?

It certainly sounds Socratic.

Visiting Yosemite is a CLC tradition. The only other national parks I have visited were at the Grand Canyon and the Apostle Islands.

Some things our country does is very sad. Building the national park system is something every citizen should be proud of.

I've been to Gettysburg (PA), Shiloh (TN), Yellowstone (WY), Mt. Rushmore (SD), Badlands (SD), Smokey Mountains (TN), Chickamauga, (TN), and McKinley Lake (AK). My dream is to see Yosemite, Grand Canyon, Glacier, Sequoia, Antietam and others.

I visit the Apostle Islands area every fall for salmon fishing and grouse hunting. The lake shore is rugged and wild and I have native american friends who live there.

Lake Superior and the islands are majestic.

Would love to visit there.

I also forgot to list Grand Tetons National Park on my list of places I've visited.

We recently moved to the mid Atlantic and have literally stumbled on a couple of lesser known national parks. Great Falls National Park is just west of DC. Absolutely beautiful scenery of the Potomac. I also spent a day at Shenandoah national park. Another beautiful landscape nestled in the Blue ridge mountains. https://imageshack.com/i/pnwF8lvPj
