Reince Priebus Saved in Apostolic Church in WI
Just read on FB that Jack Cunningham told the LA Campmeeting last night that Reince Priebus repented, was baptized in Jesus Name and received the Holy Ghost at an Apostolic church in WI.
Anyone hear about this? |

When did this happen?

I love to hear when anyone is baptized in Jesus name. Yet, I think the UPCI needs to stop with the celebrity fascination. It's like they feel that by saying a celebrity has been baptized in Jesus name gives them some sort of credibility?
With who? I don't know who the guy is who was baptized, while glad that anyone is baptized in Jesus name, I don't care how famous they are. "Some" people in the UPC need to grow up. |

Reince Priebus is the Chairman of the GOP.
Not sure when this happened. My parents were watching the live stream of the LA District Campmeeting last night and Jack Cunningham was speaking and mentioned it. Other reports: 33 have received the HG at the UN and 32 have been baptized. Stockton, Ca. - 396 baptized (all afternoon)/ 298 filled with the Holy Ghost in one morning service. |

Do you know how many ex-Catholics are still on Catholic baptismal lists who have left the Catholic church? Again, while I rejoice to hear of baptisms in Jesus name, I still cannot dismiss how many of those baptisms were people just getting wet? Infillings which were more hype than holy? |

Good grief. Next time I'll know better than to post anything like this. It's interesting to me, that's all. I'm happy about anyone who is water and spirit baptized. |

I mean maybe this stuff worked in the eighties but I personally feel it's gotten old. Quote:

Yeah... and when I was a teen Attorney General Ashcroft had UPC roots. The truth of the matter, AG was A of G.
Who else was saaaved way back when... everyone from Elvis (some merit) to Marylin(sp) Monroe. Heck, even Dora the Explorer was UPC. |

Re: Reince Priebus Saved in Apostolic Church in WI
Prebus is from Kenosha in SE WI. If it is the church in that city, that is close enough I would have heard something. Especially since I have known folks from that church. But right, if he was baptized and filled when he was say, eighteen, he does not now identify as apostolic. There are probably a lot of notable people in the world who at one time rubbed elbows with Pentecost. I can think of a few who I knew. But why bring it up. That is so 1980s. It's the "they're looking our way" in reverse. Or at one time they did, and need to look back.

Re: Reince Priebus Saved in Apostolic Church in WI
Can anyone verify this? Because, you know, WE need to verify, substantiate, confirm, prove, and authenticate the salvation of folks. It's like how the Catholics grant sainthood to someone---there's a criteria that must be met AND verified---in order to prove one is worthy of sainthood.
Apostolics do the same thing, only with salvation. The criteria and verification must be established by the "saved people" in order for one to be accepted as a "legit" Christian. Thus the thumbs up, whistle blowing altar calls. Conversations that go something like "did anyone hear them speaking in tongues?" or "in which church were they baptized?" are common. There's this idea that WE have to approve of the circumstances and situations in which someone is saved in order for it to be deemed legitimate. I agree that for years we hear these stories about celebrities or well known people getting saved in an Apostolic church or campmeeting and you just roll your eyes because it just seems so insecure. Thank God anyone gets saved! Why we need to either stroke our egos at a high profile salvation or feel like we need to be the Sanhedrin that gives a seal of approval or not is beyond me. Time and eternity will separate the wheat from the chaff. Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. One word summarizes the whole fallacy of salvation verification: BORAT... |
