Day of Trumpets coming up

The day of Trumpets is expected this year to be on Oct 3 (actual date depends on the visible new moon).

The day or Trumpets is the day that heralds the seventh month of God's calendar, announcing the arrival of the Day of Atonement and the Feast of Tabernacles.

It is known that Christ was not born on December 25. If you did not know that, guess what? There's no tooth fairy, either.

It is believed by most scholars and serious students of the Bible that Christ was born sometime in the seventh month. And how fitting: Trumpets, announcing the arrival of the King, and Tabernacles prophesying of the time when God would 'tabernacle' among His people, as the Word became flesh and 'tabernacled' among us.

So basically, if you want to celebrate Christ's birth, this next month is the Biblical time to do it.

So True. Jesus fulfilled all three feasts.

Born on the Day of Trumpets, was crucified for the Passover and started the New Covenant for the Day of Pentecost.

God bless.

Why do scholars believe the Christ was born in the 7th month? (I'm not defending Christmas as the day of Christ's birth). Just asking.

Has to do with:

John was 6 months older than Jesus.
John's father was of a certain course of priests (Abiah?).
From this it can be determined that Christ was born right around the seventh month unless he was a premie.

The Magi play into this as well, but that's pretty deep and most probably don't want to get into astronomy... :heeheehee

I'll try to post more tonight, and get more involved in this. Maybe even break out some astronomy... :)

Also, most agree that His ministry lasted 3 1/2 years. 6 months forward or backwards takes us to the passover. He began his ministry at 30 years age.

He was 33 1/ 2 years old at his death. That makes his birth fall of the year.

Another idea is that the shepherds wouldn't be out tending sheep in the fields with snow on the ground either.... lol!

Do you guys actually have a formal observance? If so, what do you guys do? Do you just gather and discuss the meaning of the feast day or do you actually have some traditions?

I was looking at the feasts earlier this week wherein there was an emphasis on prophesy and how the Feast of Trumpets are believed by some to be a shadow of the Rapture or the Tribulation period itself.

I've never really been very interested in the feasts in the past, but recently I've felt drawn to study them.

Here are two charts that I've found that look like they might be valuable to the study of the feasts.

Re: Day of Trumpets coming up

I don't think Christians have to observe the Jewish Feast Days. However, I do believe that whenever we discuss the various doctrines relating to salvation, we are walking in the spiritual realities each Feast Day was designed to teach the Jewish people. For example, when we teach on being ready to meet the Lord or on the Rapture of the church we are walking in the light of Rosh Hashanah's (Feast of Trumpets) spiritual reality. Maybe we could take some time on October 3rd to discuss searching the heart in preparation for the Lord's Coming.

Just as the pattern and design of the Tabernacle outlined various spiritual realities as it relates to salvation, in like fashion the Feast Days teach us doctrinal realities relating to: The Death of Jesus & Justification (Passover), Burial of Jesus & Sanctification (Unleavened Bread), the Resurrection of Jesus & Glorification (First Fruits), Gathering & The Rapture (Trumpets), The Second Coming & Israel's Salvation (Atonement), and the Coming Kingdom & the Millennium (Tabernacles).

Christian doctrine is patterned in the Jewish types and shadows throughout the Old Testament. Perhaps we don't observe these rituals, days, or customs.... but we do walk in the spiritual realities they that were designed to teach God's people.... every day.
