Hurricane Harvey - Texas Coast

We have been issued a mandatory evacuation. Haven't ever had to leave before.

Pray for the Texas and Louisiana Coast. The Hurricane is projected to move Southeast back over the Gulf and turn NE into Louisiana.

They are projecting a Category 3. We are on the dangerous side of this.

Thanks and Adios!!! :highfive

My husband wants to leave in the morning, when the tropical winds are getting here. Ugh! And, thanks!

I'd be pumping air in my rubber ducky floater, and putting on some swimming trunks.

We stayed during a low Category 2 and many houses had trees fall and destroy their roofs. I think that 130 mph winds (CAT 3) is pretty strong. lol!

if they are asking you to evacuate, then yeah, the sooner the better to avoid traffic jams.

I live in Florida and we ride them out, but will leave for a 4 or 5.

It isn't so much the wind category as it is that the storm is trapped between two high pressure systems causing it to stall out and dump loads of rain. It is supposed to dump rain for 6 days, at least.

I'm praying for you all sis.

I know I'm just a current of air change away, from my own hurricane.

We have to pray for each other. I can't leave because of my animals, and I wouldn't be able to transport them in the event of a storm.

I'm praying for you all in Jesus name

Waiting it out in Houston. When it rains it never seems to flood in our neighborhood. And there's a few water things... ditches? IDK... that run through the neighborhood. They are always empty.

Outside of the neighborhood is another story...

Only positive to being pulled from work... I would have had to work during the storm. Maybe the building at the old site will be destroyed as a testimony against them... MWAHAHAHA! Sorry... sometimes I really get into the Old Testament.

See, I have been wanting to move to Texas for a few years now, but the tornadoes and hurricanes scare me. I live in California, where there's only one major earthquake every 20-40+ years or so.

Be safe

I don't know. The possibility that I might have to repair my house almost every year... but I have family there on my father's side, and I like the land among other things, so I'm seriously considering it.

Will you need employment? Houston has many opportunities in the medical field, and oil and gas.

Austin is like liberal CA Jr.

Don't know much about Longview or Dallas. FloMo (Flower Mound) is supposed to be nice.

Dallas and even Longview have nothing to fear from a hurricane. Up here in north east Texas the only concern is tornadoes, but most everyone has a tornado shelter.

Last St Patrick's day we had a supercell form right over the house, pond out front was literally whitewater going in a counterclockwise circle. Took part of the roof off my barn, had 2x4s 8-10 ft long embedded across the pasture four feet deep. Thing walked right down the county road headed north, then turned east and went into town.

Here's a video someone from in town took as it formed. They are looking west-southwest. The left half of the shelf cloud in the video was directly over my house.

Clarksville, Texas storm 3/17/2016: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lYs6kWsUz_8

Here's another video, this time from south east of my location looking east-northeast. At 1:47 I believe the camera is pointing directly towards my house from about 20 some odd miles away (language advisory halfway through as a funnel cloud rolls through the cameraman's area):

Tornados in Bogata, Tx Clarksville, Tx.: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WH1h078k3Mc

Fun!

No, I didn't take the videos, I found them on YouTube. For us, everything took about 15 minutes and it was moving on. We didn't even have time to get to the shelter before it was over. Lost a big pine tree next to the house, thankfully the top half landed in a pasture and not on the roof!

Very light rain fall over night. Harvey downgraded to a Cat 1, still hovering over Victoria. West Houston experiencing heavy rain, expecting 1-2 inches per hour.

Calm and quiet over hur, eas side representin'. (JK.) But it is calm and chill here.

I'm sure Esaias is fine. PO stated that she had an evacuation order. So, I assume she is dry somewhere.

Satellite is cutting out and there's still nothing going on here, so I'm annoyed. I'd rather watch the news on this big screen "monitor" than on the iPhone. Wonder if McDonald's will be open. I could go for some cahfee.

I live about 30 miles south of the Oklahoma border, so we're fine. I've been trying to get ahold of family down in Texas City but either the phones are down or they are sleeping in late.
