Re: Smart Guy with a Beard
he does have a point just not a very valid one. Adam and Eve were vegetarians before the fall.

one hint of what happened after the fall could be in the curse that God gave to Adam. "Cursed is the ground because of you". So we know that from that moment on the ground became cursed, which might mean that the ground was not longer able to provide all the nutrition required for a strong life. in other words the vitality that existed upon the ground was gone. This forced men to now plant and toil for what previously the ground grew naturally. Then after the flood a second devastation occurred upon the ground, which made necessary for God to allow the eating of meat to Noah and his descendants. |

I am very unhappy with the inhumane and unsanitary conditions of our meat. I lift weights and walk 2-5 miles daily. |

Vegan eggs? My heck.
I think some people picture free range chickens roaming a large area of land. Free range chickens don’t live that great of a life. |

the eggs are certified humane. I don't think I can remain healthy on a vegan only diet.
https://certifiedhumane.org/humane-eggs/ If the carton says “certified humane” it means the birds were raised in a manner that meets certification requirements of Humane Farm Animal Care. Laying hens must be uncaged and have access to perches, nest boxes and dust-bathing areas. Flock density is limited but birds are not required to have access to the outdoors. Beak trimming is allowed; debeaking is not. Starvation to induce molting is not permitted. |

Vegan was a disaster for my wife. Especially during childbirth and nursing. I couldn't remain vegan. I need to eat. :) |

I was surprised to find out that "cage free" only means they're not in cages, but still crowded in large pens with hundreds and thousands of other chickens; and that "free range" only means that the door to the cage must be open at least, IIRC, 5 minutes a day or so. Stupid, misleading, dishonest and plain wrong. |

As far as bleeding out, the Romans believed it as the best way to die. It is termed "Roman Suicide" and left up to the magistrate or the emperor to allow you to go that route. Instead of beheading (Roman execution) the way for the elite who were sentenced to death were to open both wrists while in a warm bath. As they bleed out the peacefully slipped away. Hence the slit throat of an animal is quick when done properly. I do emphasize...properly.

Believe me they do taste better. I am not sure they are better for you, but at least I know what they have been eating. Just started harvesting my "extra" male ducks and will start on my surplus roosters after that. And again, they do taste much different than store bought. We do contract with a local farmer and buy about 1/2 of a beeve twice a year. They are raised without steriods and minimal antibiotics (he tries for zero, but sometimes has to use them). And the taste is totally different than store bought. I would not say that it is better, because these are free range and grass fed. Grain fed cattle do taste better, but they are not raised as "nicely" as these. |
