Oneness Pentecostal songs?

Does this jive with our OP doctorine, and fine to sing in our church meetings?

Godhead three in one, father, spirit, and son...

Should it be sang “IN” son, instead of and son?

Sang as is...not sang at all..?

Does it send a short not so sweet trinitarian doctrinal message to our kids that we need to address/untangle?

Re: Oneness Pentecostal songs?

We change the lyrics a bit:

The Godhead all in one - Father, Spirit, Son.

You can also just sing the chorus and bridge

Re: Oneness Pentecostal songs?

I have heard Apostolic churches sing the lyric as written, and personally have no problem with it...Jehovah God is revealed as "Father, Spirit, Son."

However, I heard the Rock Church in Elk Grove/Sacramento sing, "The godhead, He is one, beside Him there is none..."

that doesn't even go with the music

if people are so afraid of Trinitarian songs, write oneness songs. lol

A church girl snapped at me when I suggested that the oneness people need to start writing songs. Foaming at the mouth...

LOL Please read with understanding...I wasn't putting that with the song, only explaining what I believe. LOL

Oh please! "The lyric as written" was referring to the subject at hand...the song written by Chris Tomlin!!!

Please tap your foot elsewhere... :nod

Re: Oneness Pentecostal songs?

The first recording of this song was:
"The Godhead Three in One
Father, Spirit, Son"

A later recording changed the last line to:
"Father, Spirit and Son"

I was a worship leader when this song first came out and had no issue singing it at a UPC church without any changes. The UPC church I currently attend has changed the wording. I'm not fond of changing lyrics, but some churches do.

I have no problem with that either...let me clarify...the FIRST/ORIGINAL lyric.

I had a Pastor berate me once for using too many songs written by trinitarians. He was not happy when I reminded him most of his favorite songs were written by trinitarians. If I would have taken every song out written by a trinitarian, the song list could have been written on a small 1-inch square post-it note!

I agree to a point...

The person who wrote, "I'm a Pentecostal," shouldn't write any more songs. LoL

Charity Gayle should write more songs though, along with a few others.

You're right. He shouldn't write any more songs.. but he does and will. :heeheehee

We couldn't sing "new" songs in church until they got old. Weird. And they weren't new... they were recycled and making their rounds again. :spit

As a singer and musician, it frustrates me that I have been unable to write songs. I wrote a chorus back in the early 90s that we sang in the church my father pastored. And I helped co-write a song in the mid-90s, but that's been it.

"Grip of Grace." Never published. Co-wrote it in a studio when recording a demo back in '96. Unfortunately, the demo was never finished.

Why are you unable to write songs? Writer's block? Or lack of time?

Jesus saved my soul, and made my spirit whole,
and filled me with his Holy Ghost divine;
Only Jesus justifies me, only Jesus sanctifies me,
O glory, Hallelujah!

And it's Jesus only, who saves my soul from hell.
And it's Jesus only who makes my body well.
And when I get to glory I will see Jesus only
Upon the Great White Throne, Jesus Christ is God alone,
O glory Hallelujah!

I was wandering in sin, and only Jesus took me in,
and he made me a child of God above;
My soul was then set free by the Man from Galilee,
O glory Hallelujah!

And it's Jesus only, who saves my soul from hell.
And it's Jesus only who makes my body well.
And when I get to glory I will see Jesus only
Upon the Great White Throne, Jesus Christ is God alone,
O glory Hallelujah!

When sickness came upon me, I turned to Jesus only,
and by his precious stripes I am healed!
And now I shout and sing, I will make the heavens ring,
O glory Hallelujah!

And it's Jesus only, who saves my soul from hell.
And it's Jesus only who makes my body well.
And when I get to glory I will see Jesus only
Upon the Great White Throne, Jesus Christ is God alone,
O glory Hallelujah!

Now when it is my time to close my eyes and die,
I know my soul will rest in peace;
Cause Jesus told me so, when he saved my soul,
O glory Hallelujah!

And it's Jesus only, who saves my soul from hell.
And it's Jesus only who makes my body well.
And when I get to glory I will see Jesus only
Upon the Great White Throne, Jesus Christ is God alone,
O glory Hallelujah!

Now I have seen the Father because I've seen the Son,
and his Holy Spirit comforts me!
And if you'll trust Jesus only you will see these three are One,
O glory Hallelujah!

And it's Jesus only, who saves my soul from hell.
And it's Jesus only who makes my body well.
And when I get to glory I will see Jesus only
Upon the Great White Throne, Jesus Christ is God alone,
O glory Hallelujah!

The most prolific Oneness song writer was Herbert Buffum (1879-1939). He lived in Stockton, California.

He penned more than 163 songs that I can list. He published over 1,000 songs.

Writing his biography was part of the Harry Morse project. They were friends.

What's wrong Jimmy?

It doesn't sound like a Death Metal rendition of Abba's Fernando?

Prolific and good are not necessarily the same thing! LOL
