Anoint house with oil.!?
Have you anointed your house with oil? Why or why not? I know that this is a big thing with charismatics (TBN/WOF) and many Pentecostals and Apostolics. |
Re: Anoint house with oil.!?
A former pastor said the Bible instructs to do so, but I cannot find an example. |
Re: Anoint house with oil.!?
Anointing homes with oil , blessing pets, and motorcycle bike blessings aren't on my list.
Why, because there is no where in the New Testament were anointing inanimate objects were specified. Anyone who wants pets or homes to be blessed they need to be a blessing themselves. Brother Teklemariam told me a story on how he and some other brothers went to anoint a brother they were praying for. They couldn't find any oil so they used butter. Just pray, believe God, have faith, see God take care of the business. No need to carry little micro vials filled with vegetable oil. |

Leader of A.C.E? That had his brother in law beat by authorities over the divine flesh rift? |

It is surely not going to hurt anything to anoint your house in the Name of Jesus.

Re: Anoint house with oil.!?
Anointing inanimate objects was done in the Bible (Jacob's pillar, the furnishings of the Tabernacle, etc). But those anointings were ritual methods of dedicating the item to divine service. Anointing your home would indicate it is no longer being used for living quarters but has become an actual temple (if one was going to be Biblically consistent).
Of course, one might anoint a home for some other purpose, like "the X family is going to be living here" but again this would just be an act of dedication, like smashing a bottle of champagne against the hull of a new boat or ship, or cutting the ribbon and ceremoniously digging the first shovelful out of the ground on a new building project. It has no "power against demons" that I can see. The Pharisees washed hands, bowls, plates, cups etc for essentially the same reason (warding against evil). Same reason Catholics splash holy water on homes and cars, or use oil during exorcisms of houses. It's remarkably similar to PAGAN SUPERSTITION. |

Secondly, if any action a believer takes of an alleged spiritual nature has no actual, real-world significance and doesn't bring about anything in any true sense, not only is it a waste of time, it becomes an illusion that might only soothe fears but not actually protect someone from the very thing they actually fear, and that engenders deception. We must be careful, even circumspect, regarding what we believe, what we do, and why we believe it and why we do it. |
