Other Apostolic Message Boards
Just curious, are there any other active Apostolic online forums. This forum doesn't have near the activity it did several years ago. Just wondering if there are any other options for reading online discussions between Oneness Pentecostals.

Re: Other Apostolic Message Boards
Its been years since I heard of any.

Re: Other Apostolic Message Boards
Now they just tweet, instagram, or facebook. This older medium is archaic to them.

Anyway, most oneness people apparently aren't into discussion, they'd rather do selfies and sound bites on farcebook. :heeheehee |

Re: Other Apostolic Message Boards
I've often thought about this myself. AFF is a good little community that's generally filled with thoughtful insight, but in viewing the older threads, it seems that it's dying a slow death. The forum itself is, let's face it, quite plain and old-fashioned looking, but that probably hasn't anything to do with the fact that the population here has dwindled.
Like the other responder said, most Apostolic people have drifted towards social media outlets, where debates clutter the pages instead of genuine discussion. Forums like AFF are rare. I haven't found any other Apostolic-friendly website out there that operates successfully and with a steady membership. Christian Forums, a site that opens its doors to a multitude of "faiths" (many of which aren't Christian in origin), is often quite critical of people that are Oneness, baptism in the name of Jesus, or have any significant stance on holiness and worldliness separation. That's one of the reasons I left it. I was banned for not being Trinitarian. That's why I came here. AFF should be updated, and then maybe some of the oldies would fall back in here? It's a thought.... |
Re: Other Apostolic Message Boards
In my experience "update" is not always good. About the time I start getting used to something along comes an update and confuses me! I love the way the forum operates and its layout.
I am on Facebook and the layout of it as far as the kind of discussions we have here IMO is no good. |

We do use Facebook, and Messenger, incredibly effectively for corroborative studies that show Sinaiticus to be an 1800s manuscript. Although the information then tends to go to other venues. Patristics for Protestants has been a well-run group, with civility emphasized. And I host a group called PureBible that tries hard to be both friendly and edifying. The Biblical archaeology groups are interesting. The highlights are there despite the layouts. Since stuff is hard to find when it goes down the memory hole, bookmarking is very helpful. My fav tool is linkman. |
Re: Other Apostolic Message Boards
I read a lot on here but rarely post. Much of the time it’s due to the fact that the topics are theologically over my head. I am Oneness and know what I believe but wonder why everyone argues so much about what they believe. Lots of ego I suspect. I don’t know if this is supposed to be for pastors only now but much of the content seems argumentative and anti UPC

I would also say that there are a few members who see every post as a nail. And themselves as a hammer... |

Re: Other Apostolic Message Boards
The latest vBulletin is 5.4.5. I'm having a hard time finding their release notes. The security patches themselves are worth it, but I wonder if there is something else regarding new features worth checking out.
If updating this one costs money, perhaps switching to an open source one would be a better approach. phpBB comes to mind. There is a convertor for vB 3.X: https://www.phpbb.com/community/view...641375&start=0 |

Some, but not all, of the members here are in some form of evangelistic ministry, or at least that's my guess. Their views and manner might just be leading me to that assumption, but I could very well be wrong. Likewise, the majority of us here at AFF aren't too prideful and therefore are perfectly fine with clarifying our statements and apologizing for any wrongdoing or unintentional hurt we might have bestowed upon someone. As for the UPC stance, some here are UPC, but most of us are independent, I would say. The UPC opinions vary, but some are weary that the church, or the UPC denomination, has lowered its expectations and therefore are going in a wrong direction. God bless! |
Re: Other Apostolic Message Boards
Thanks Holy Roller. I,for one, am all about a lil sarcasm and banter but some of these responses to others seems mean spirited. Is the UPC stance because of the standards?

I tend to have a sarcastic tongue myself, but I could see where your conclusion being that remarks here are often mean-spirited. I don't know really if they are intended to come off that way, but hiding behind these keyboards and computer screens, it's hard for us to decipher what someone's intended intention was or was not. However, I don't personally believe that the majority of the posters here are aiming in any way at all to hurt anyone's feelings intentionally. Perhaps some of us get too determined in the Our Way Is Right attitude, but that doesn't automatically make it all mean-spirited in intention. The stances on the UPC is very diverse here, or so I've gathered. I say stances (with an "S") because there are a multitude of different ideas floating around on here about the UPC and the churches, congregations, and preachers underneath that umbrella. I know some feel the UPC has lowered its expectations, and therefore see it has heading in a wrong direction. Other opinions can be extremely diverse, and people have these feelings for a variety of different reasons. To narrow down a specific overall ruling of AFF members' opinions on the UPC is nearly impossible. That is something you'd have to discuss with each member individually. Personally, I have little experience with the UPC. While I attended college briefly, I met this girl that was a part of a UPC congregation, and here recently, my Pastor's oldest daughter had a spark of a romance for a young man attending a UPC in Kentucky. As for the rest of the posters here, I couldn't say. |

When you've got cruel, toxic, narcissistic people like Benincasa here asserting themselves as moral and ethical superiors to everyone eventually people are going to leave.
My man's got bruises on his back from patting himself too hard. |

Re: Other Apostolic Message Boards
I wish these forums here were more populated. Looking at the old ones, and reading posts of those here now, these threads were certainly more busy than they are now.
Where has everyone gone? I know some of them that were here when I came in have left, too. |

Re: Other Apostolic Message Boards
I found another Apostolic-aimed forum on the web called Apostolic Pentecostal Oneness. It says it has 104 registered members and only 239 total posts, the last one being back in May 2015. Apparently, this one never got off the ground, and it's dead now. It looks like a ghost town when you click on it.

I still pop in and browse the topics every month or so, but now it is more out of curiosity than anything else. I should add, I do use Facebook (am not active on any forums) but try to limit my FB friends to those people who I know in real life... for the most part... did some major FB pruning during the 2016 elections when I got tired of being called racist for being politically conservative. I don't see the point in "padding" my friends list with every person I meet... unless they are a part of the real-life community that I am actively involved with as a small business owner and volunteer firefighter. |
