I just want to know if there’s a happy ending.

I read the reviews and sounds like it’s a bunch of backslid haters bashing the upc ( FYI I’m not upc ). Birds of a feather all flock together. 6 reviews and I think 5 of them were ex upc people all with a “ story “. They all should write a book to make theirselves feel better.

I just read the reviews, it looks like the old days on NFCF. I was raised with a bunch of Italians. I should write a book, my New York Sicilian upbringing. I'm sorry for anyone who went through a hard time in or out of church. But my question is, does the gal who wrote the book have a happy ending? Or is she like Emma Boatsinker with a blog for licking open wounds?

Hey, the list is long, and you can find a book, with a kid, wife, husband, woman, man, best friend, or ex best friend who had it rough. God help everyone, I mean it. It is a tough world out there, and it can be tough in the church. But guess what, I want to know about the happy ending, did they get their wish? I read the review for Ronna's book, sexual freedom? Does it pay the bills? I mean can someone fill me in on how that is supposed to give hope to the hopeless? Hey, Uncle Tony Bitty Joe, I know you lost everything, you are broker than Job's fish tank. All seems to be at the end, but guess what, you can hope for sexual freedom?

I don't believe the word of our testimony is my life before the church. I believe the word of my testimony is inside the church. How I overcame obstacles within the long journey home. How the Holy Ghost has kept me through my trials. How bad things, and super bad things have hit me, but I still keep moving forward in Jesus name. If it wasn't for the Apostolic church I would be dead. It is tough for children, and especially teens who grow up in church sheltered from the outside, not knowing what we know about the outside. Again, I don't know Ronna's story, it sounds pretty bad, but my WORST day in the Church, is way better than my BEST day out in the world before Jesus Christ. I can write a book, about all the tough times I had in the church, show them my battle wounds, the butcher knives deep in my back, my rear end kicked to the top of my head. Betrayal of close brothers and sisters who have blown my ever loving mind. But, what does that glory? Wee wee wee all the way home? Jesus is King, He is the God of gods, Lord of Lords. He has NEVER failed me, while people have, loved ones who have disappointed me, and enemies who have danced on my grave more than I can count. But Jesus is faithful, even if everyone left me for dead, cursed my name, dragged me around the parking lot till the meat fell off my bones, Jesus is still with me, to help me learn from the burn. :thumbsup

I couldn't make it through, sorry Ronna.

But I haven't the foggiest idea who you meant this "book" for.

It sure wasn't us bad machines you left behind, looks like your mind is locked on target for sexual freedom. :heeheehee

Does Amazon sell this book in a brown paper wrapper?

The Lord love your heart Ronna, I hope all works out for you.

But, as a side note, you cannot blame the UPC, the ABC, or the 123 on what happened or is happening with this woman. Good gracious, I think I need to wash my eyes out with battery acid, and use the Infinity gauntlet to wipe my memory clear. :lol

I didn’t even attempt to read the free part because I picked up from a couple reviewers that it basically was sounding x rated.

Re: Former AFF Member's New Book

When I saw this I bought the kindle version because I know the family. I actually went on a date with her oldest sister when I was in college.

I did not recognize the last name but did the first and there were enough clues to make me think it was this family and sure enough it is.

WARNING - The first chapter of the book is like the first chapter of a pornographic novel. I actually thought Amazon had sent me the wrong book at first until I skipped ahead to chapter 2.

My heart goes out to this woman I knew as a young girl because her father turned out to be a closeted homosexual who later died of AIDS. I have not read much of the book yet but I have to believe that much of her bitternness and anger toward the church grew from that situation and how it played out.

That is what we are most often told. Outside influences either good or bad causes me to do X, Y, or Z. My step mother was a bad alcoholic, who hated my mother, and therefore took out that hatred against my mother's offspring. namely,
moi. Life, church or no church, still has a long road, a Pilgrim's Progress for the Christian. Bitterness, revenge, hate, and fault finding, looking for an ecclesiastical scapegoat. Won't do it for any of us, the _________ Church did me wrong, so I am the way I am? I really don't think Jesus is going to buy it, and don't think we are going to get the back rub. Or cradled in the fetal position while we are softly rocked to sleep. That is what the devil does.
Father and mom were broken machines?

You know what I find interesting about the father was (fill in the blank) mother was (fill in the blank) Church was (fill in the blank) Pastor was (fill in the blank) but no one knew any godly people? For all the horror stories you get to hear, and read this people knew NO ONE who set a godly example of Christ? No powerful moves of the Holy Ghost? I don't buy it, I just don't. All my time reading the "I hate old time Pentecost" drama, and "Pastors are Money hungry Devil" posts from FCF, NFCF, to this place, the stories never have happy endings. Never have anyone who were model Christians.

With the book, chapter one did it for me, kindle, or notebook written in crayon, still can't make that readable. Pentecost has ZERO to do with that sister's issues. When people get honest, then they can stand back and do some heavy lifting. The contents of chapter one says it all.

Pray that she scrubs her mind out with Brillo.

This is what really made my atheist dad roll his eyes. When he would hear of "Ex-Christians" giving these sorts of "testimonies."

She is no kid dealing with religious hypocrisy.

She is an old woman, and needing to get it together.

Sexual freedom my foot.

Re: Former AFF Member's New Book

I would hope that rather than attack people like this we could show some compassion. No circumstance excuses a person being away from God but you also can't stick your head in the sand and say that circumstances don't affect people.

When this woman's family fell apart she was a young girl at a very impressionable age. I am betting her childhood fears of the tribulation, hell, etc were magnified when her father fell, parents divorced, and her father eventually died of AIDS.

To just trash her is not christian at all. She needs prayer and good examples of Christ like behavior. The posts on this thread are why I don't spend near as much time here as I did years ago. It is discouraging to see just how spiteful and mean people can be. We should not stoop to the behavior of those who have ill will against us or the church.

Good thing she isn't an ultracon pastor and this isn't NFCF. Right?

Bro, you know as well as I that she had good examples growing up. She wasn't raised in a cloister on a mountain. She was in the UPC, a plethora of the good, bad, and the ugly. By all means put her on the prayer list, but she is an old woman now, she is not a child. You don't spend time here because of my posting? You own the forum, you want an echo instead of a voice, then you can solve that with one click.

Have there been posts deleted from this thread? I don't think anyone would disagree that this individual needs prayer, but I certainly don't see anyone trashing her either.
