2 Parishioners Shot and Killed Texas Church Gunman
Police: 2 Parishioners Shot and Killed Texas Church Gunman “An elder at the church told the New York Times that one of those killed was a security guard who responded to the shooter, calling him a dear friend.” |
Re: 2 Parishioners Shot and Killed Texas Church Gu
Now every apostolic gun toting church will feel justified about their security protocols. Every Pentecostal will get their ccw permit, then wonder why their feeling like the church of Christ congregations now.

Sad to see this happening in church. No place is safe or sacred any more, not even houses of worship and prayer.
I saw an edited video of the shooting. First, the hero who stopped a likely massacre is no ordinary Joe. He's former law enforcement. I counted about 4.5 to 5 seconds from the time the first shot went off to the time the ex LEO took out the shooter. That's incredibly quick reaction time. Also, from what I can see on the video, it was a one shot kill. I tried estimating the distance and believe it's about 40 to 50 feet or more between the ex LEO and the killer, and he shot him in the head with one shot. There's probably 1 out of 1,000 ordinary church going concealed carriers who could do that. That's important for people to understand. Stage this exact incident with someone else returning fire and the results would be much different every time. Ordinary Joe would likely have fired several rounds before even hitting the killer, much less ending the threat. Second, the video I saw blurred the back of the church where he shot and killed someone, but it appears he got up and was talking with someone before stepping back, pulling the rifle out and opening fire. I'm curious at what he said. Third, if you see the video, watch the guy in the blue sweater vest towards the middle of the bottom of the frame. Everyone else is diving for cover and he just sits there. It's amazing to me how he just sits there while chaos is erupting around him. Lastly, the congregation is 90% senior citizens. The killer is in a dark overcoat with the hood over his head. Either the man visited there before and was known to them or they aren't real observant. The church I attend is smaller so anyone looking as out of place as that guy did would draw attention. Even in a similar sized church I previously attended, someone in an overcoat wearing a hood would draw attention. Again, very sad that this is happening in churches today. |

The bottomline is that guns are necessary in the world we now live, black large brim cowboy hats look cool, and firing a shotgun in a Texas church is a good way to get killed.

Its all terribly sad, but thankful someone trained was able to take down the shooter. Most concealed weapon carriers would probably not be able to do that in that short of time period, and more likely more people would have been killed in the process. But... at least someone in there had a weapon. Think of how many people would have died had there not been someone there to return fire before police could have responded. It would have been a massacre like the little town in Texas several years ago. So... yes its a crazy world we live in. |

Re: 2 Parishioners Shot and Killed Texas Church Gu
The thing is a scam
Brenton Tarrant the Christchurch NZ shooter and "white nationalist" guy was from a town called Grafton The day before this recent shooting a guy named Grafton attacked a synagogue. This Church of Christ is in Tarrant County in a town called White Settlement. Which is conveniently located per google at an elevation of 666 ft above sea level. I watched the press conference. The police chief was flubbing his lines very interestingly, kept saying Congressional and "service members". Very nervous as well. I wonder if the FBI, Rangers, and national media always show up when 2-3 people get shot. The Chicago, Dallas, and New York field offices must be REEEEEEEALLY busy then... |
Re: 2 Parishioners Shot and Killed Texas Church Gu
And apparently the hero is a retired FBI agent.

Is it true the church building was located on "Las Vegas Trail"?

So, call me Captain Obvious, but to have 2 Timothy 3:13 to be at its current worse today, would mean that everyone is as cooked as the Xmas goose. This thing is as done as the dinner dishes, because of the time language. No matter what eschatology may be anyone's cup of tea, everyone has to reconcile the wording of 2 Timothy 3:13. So, my thoughts on the why isn't so ecclsesiatically dramatic, but has to do with what people watch. Listen to, believe, and make their own mythos. People have been using 2 Tim 3 as the go to chapter, when everything hits the fan. It was used so many times throughout Christain history that the Catholics used it against Martin Luther and the Reformationists and the Reformationists used it against the Pope and Cardinals. Why? Because it seemed like a fitting verse at the time. Right? But let's include an even bigger group of guys and gals, people who wouldn't know a Bible if they were handed one and asked to read aloud. These people are taught, not from Clergy, not from Popes, not from Imans, Gurus, or Rabbis. They are taught by the media, the medi shapes their world view. Like a Pavlovian symphony, the saliva runs through the street in rivers when certain phrases and words are employed by the bell ringing masters. From Hollywood to London, from New York to Moscow we are being told what to do, and we do it willingly subconsciously. We do it like Zombies poets playing the lyre for our favorite team. Republicans and Democrats are like the Pushmi-Pullyu in Hugh Lofting's The Story of Doctor Dolittle. They are the two ends of the same animal. My lands, I've watched people just on this forum give very, very good reasons why not to vote for Trump. This was done when they had other choices. Yet, when the playing field was whittled down to the lesser of two evils. One devil had to be picked. Since we pick that devil, then we have to stand with that devil. Right or wrong he, or she, is our guy. Yet, the movers and the shakers know all this. Edward Bernays taught them well, and they did learn. So, they take the worst candidate from the opposition and parade them in front of us. We only have two choices? So down the sliding pond we go! Right in the slot they wanted us to go. Milk Bone! Here Duke! Here Boy! They do it with everything, and this really isn't anything new. Every empire throughout history always learned well how to manipulate the masses from the lords to the peasants. No one reinvents the wheel, because the wheel is a tried and tested form of movement. Waxing worse and worse? No, same old devil who just puts on a different dress, or should I say pants? |
