Your thoughts on the Tallit prayer shawl.

1 Attachment(s)
The Tallit has become a thing where we attend. They are having a teaching tonight on "the covering" then those who have tallit will pray with it. I just can't get with it. Jesus is enough is my opinion. Give me your thoughts.

Have you prayed about it?

If a man prays or prophesies in public with his head covered he dishonors his head which is Christ. I have not heard any Oneness Pentecostal Church doing this.

Is it magical? Does it give the wearer +25 power in prayer?

A man I used to know had one of those. Claimed it was an authentic prayer shawl from Israel. He would put it on and walk around the front of the church during prayer meeting, rubbing the tassels and swaying back and forth.

If that kind of thing floats your boat, whatever.

Re: Your thoughts on the Tallit prayer shawl.

It seems to me that it is a continuation of a trend, that has been prevalent for many years. It is considered anti Semitic to say that Jews are no more holy than say Irish Protestants.

As Gentile Christians we are led to believe we are second class citizens in the kingdom of God. We are the step children. The Jews have the favorite son status. So, we try to act like Jews. We are wannabe Jews.

So? We should wear the covering? Blow the shofar? I love the Jews. And if you want to blow the shofar in worship to Jesus, be my guest.

But the irony isn’t lost on me either. Blowing the shofar in order for be more Jewish is ironic indeed. Trying to be more Jewish? When they rejected Him? And continue to do so?

The Jews need evangelizing, just like other nonbelievers! A question:

When Jesus said that “the only way to the Father is by me”. Who was he talking to? Think about it.

The Jews.

If there is no heat in the church, it sounds like a good idea, but I am not sure if anyone has looked around lately, but we are in the New Covenant, and we need not look at what God brought His people out of, as we are to leave other religions where they belong.

I was in a church not too long ago, and one of the guys in the church started blowing a shofar during the worship service. *smh*

Now if its the WOMEN doing it thats good news!

So let’s be just a little Hebrew Roots. If a little Hebrew Roots does a little good, wouldn’t a lot of Hebrew Roots do a lot of good?

It has been my experience, that a doctrine will be made of it.

It has also been my experience, that some money will be made from it.

And in twenty years we’ll be looking back on it saying, Remember when we were blowing shofars and wearing Tallit prayer shawls in church?

Oh yeah. That was Brother __________ that came through preaching that. Didn’t he go “charismatic”?

Like if someone gave you a pair of clown shoes, would you wear them for no reason?

I dunno man. Shoulders are close to the head and we need those boundaries in our life. 😁

Because we all know the people God loves best and if we dress up like them then maybe just maybe we can skip ahead in the line and get our prayers answered quicker?

So I was in a service recently where a guy started blowing a shofar. ...

I reached over and whispered to my wife, here it comes....

Sounded like a sick calf....

I did have to hold in the chuckles....
