When was the last time a person came to the Lord in your church???

I just thought a little reality check on some of the different churches/ministries represented here on AFF would be a good thing to do....

feel free to share your testimonies of God's goodness!!!

This week!!!! Almost every week we have someone turning their life over to the Lord in repentance. I love it!

chaotic_resolve 06-25-2007 12:38 PM

2 baptized yesterday, including a man who has been faithfully attending church since early last fall, but wasn't ready to commit. Well, yesterday he finally committed!

Malvaro 06-25-2007 12:41 PM

We had a lady that was baptized just last night....

My church is growing every day. It is also the only church of it's denomination in this area that is growing. Many of the people we get are people that have been hurt and abused by another church. However, we have the most visitors I've seen in any church I've attended. Just yesterday morning an older couple came to the altar at altar call and it was just so sweet. Our youth group has more than doubled in the year and a half that I've been there. Our church is said by some to be a healing church.

Hoovie 06-25-2007 01:01 PM

It is a regular occurance at our church.

I think this has a lot to do with the size of the church one attends as well as the Spiritual temperture :)

BreakingFree 06-25-2007 01:04 PM

I just thought of a second part to this question. How many people that you see giving their lives to God stay? And if they don't stay, why not? Is there substance behind this experience or does one get caught up in the emotional experience and not ever find the substance? OK, that's more than a second part.

DividedThigh 06-25-2007 01:06 PM

God is moving in our church and using it as a hospital for the lost and the hurting. We have these two amazing pastors who care about the people and are sensitive to the things of god. God is using them to lead our church to a great revival in our area. The revival that we are experiencing is a direct result of pastors who are not selfing and overbearing but loving, caring, and giving, It is so easy to see in evey avenue of our church, dt:killinme

This question is definetly more difficult.

While many experience God and are born again there are always those who do not have a long term commitment, those who move away, those who are just passing through etc. ...

Just because souls are being born again does not mean there is exploding groweth in numbers.

Yes, this is true. Is it possible that in some cases, we are not really doing our part to help them? Is it possible that we have an explosive worship service and preaching, then have people come to the altar, and then push on their head really hard, they say lalala a few times and we hit the matt, "They've got it!" and then move onto the next person and forget to teach them how to continue developing that relationship with God? Sometimes I think we tell them what to do instead of showing them by our example and showing them how to have a relationship with God. Thoughts anyone?

DividedThigh 06-25-2007 01:55 PM

without a doubt you have hit a nerve, we must not just tell people what to do but disciple them by teaching and example that will not only assimilate them into the church but develop a relationship that will last and take them to heaven, amen, dt

Michlow 06-25-2007 02:01 PM

I'm not sure who made the poll, but you seem to be missing a selection.

So I vote for: I'm a big heathen backslider who doesn't go to church

:D

Umm....me? You were the one who had to take yet another chance to rip on me. If there was any hijacking going on, it was on your part. Sorry, Charlie.

Our church puts an emphasis on soul winning. We have someone get the Holy Ghost almost every service.

I tried to choose two since the past two months most every service

has someone been baptized or filled with the Holy Ghost and/or

baptized in Jesus Name. We had two to receive the Holy Ghost

yesterday with both planning to be baptized Wed. night.

Since the first week of April, it has certainly been happening!! To

God be all the praise, honour and glory. He does all things well!

Blessings,

DividedThigh 06-25-2007 03:12 PM

how about how much fun it is to be in a great church and feel gods presence every service and the anticipation of what god is going to do next, and that he loves us in spite of our faults, yeah, dt

DividedThigh 06-25-2007 03:15 PM

that is great, god is moving, his grace is so amazing and good to us all, dt

I'm sorry, last time I checked I was an equal poster on this forum. I came in and made a flippant humorous post, as it my usual. You were somehow personally offended, and have felt the need to drag it out. I have very graciously (in my opinion) ignored your various insults to my charcter and relationship with God. So please, do us all a favor and let it go.

If you didn't notice, I was very much into the discussion previous to that. Turn the page.

Exactly, you were joking and some seriously inappropriate comments were made and WHAT THE HECK happened to "apostolic" and "Friends?"

DividedThigh 06-25-2007 03:29 PM

i think it is time to back away and take a breath, this is a public forum and mich has the right to be here and make her comments like the rest, my mom would start singing that old song "theres a sweet , sweet, spriit in this place," about now, dt

This is great news!

We need more reports like the ones that are being given here!!

Malvaro 06-25-2007 03:30 PM

enjoy.... y'all can handle this thread....

Pressing-On 06-25-2007 03:33 PM

Three people baptized Monday night! One woman walked in and started speaking in tongues!

RevDWW 06-25-2007 03:49 PM

Several were baptized yesterday. And last Thursday two were baptized at after our Prison Service.

KwaiQ 06-25-2007 04:15 PM

This poll is encouraging! Show's God is moving throughout the land! We've been baptizing one a week since Christmas Eve services.

Most recieve the Holy Ghost either that day, or the following week!

BreakingFree 06-25-2007 04:22 PM

I'll ask the question again, how many of these people are retained? Does anyone else feel like we sometimes fall short after they've gotten the HG in helping them develop that relationship with God?
