I like "God Bless the USA" by Lee Greenwood and as you mentioned "God Bless America" by Celine.
Anyone remember this old song? "God Bless America Again"...We had an evangelist and his wife who came to our church and sang this in the early to mid 70s. I found this at this site: http://cowboylyrics.com/tabs/ritter-...gain-2437.html GOD BLESS AMERICA AGAIN Recorded by: Tex Ritter (my wife's uncle - great version)/Loretta Lynn Submitted by: Thomas Rivers; tipper194@juno.com (Chorus-Sing) GOD BLESS AMERICA AGAIN YOU SEE ALL THE TROUBLE THAT SHEāS IN WASH HER PRETTY FACE, DRY HER EYES AND THEN GOD BLESS AMERICA AGAIN [We play the melody of the chorus behind these recitations.] (Verse 1-Recite) GOD, I SURE DO WISH YOUāD BLESS AMERICA AGAIN YOU KNOW, THE WAY YOU DID BACK WHEN IT ALL BEGAN YOU BLESSED HER THEN, LORD, BUT SOMEHOW WE JUST TOOK IT FOR GRANTED AND WE NEVER DID ASK AGAIN SO, JUST HOLD HER HAND, GOD, THATāS ALL AND IF SHE SHOULD STUMBLE, PLEASE DONāT LET HER FALL (Verse 2-Recite) YOU KNOW I NEVER DID UNDERSTAND EVERYTHING I READ AND HEAR ABOUT WHATāS WRONG WITH AMERICA BUT WHEN YOU DONāT HAVE A LOT OF BOOK LEARNING I GUESS THEREāS LOTS OF THINGS YOU DONāT UNDERSTAND BUT LET ME SAY THIS, GOD ö SHEāS LIKE A MOTHER TO ME AND ALL I AM OR EVER HOPE TO BE, I OWE TO YOU AND TO HER·.. [I wrote the following verse during a former administration - use it with my blessing - Tom Rivers] (Verse 3-Recite) SOME OF OUR PEOPLE HAVE FORGOTTEN YOUR ROLE IN AMERICAāS GREATNESS, LORD AND HONESTY AND CHARACTER DONāT SEEM TO COUNT MUCH WITH OUR LEADERS ANYMORE LORD, WHEN YOU WERE INVOLVED, AMERICA WAS A BEACON TO THE WORLD, AND WITH YOUR HELP, SHE CAN BE AGAIN. SO PLEASE GOD····BLESS AMERICA··..AGAIN. (Tag-Sing) WASH HER PRETTY FACE, DRY HER EYES AND THEN GOD BLESS AMERICA AGAIN. |

That way even the most dense of them who won't read books and fall asleep during lessons about American History will at least have a clue about the origins of their country. My favorite patriotic song is probably God Bless America. I also like the National Anthem. At Titans games I am always wiping tears away when it is done and many times not because the singer was bad! |

Walt has a teddy bear dressed up as a fireman that sits in our family room (my niece bought it for him on clearance. LOL). You press his paw and he plays "God Bless the USA". Some days I hear it 20 dozen times in the course of a morning!!!!!

Favorites are God Bless The USA; God Bless America; Star Spangled Banner; America, The Beautiful; and the old song - Battle Hymn of the Republic.
http://www.cyberhymnal.org/htm/b/h/bhymnotr.htm Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord; He is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored; He hath loosed the fateful lightning of His terrible swift sword; His truth is marching on. Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! His truth is marching on. I have seen Him in the watch fires of a hundred circling camps They have builded Him an altar in the evening dews and damps; I can read His righteous sentence by the dim and flaring lamps; His day is marching on. Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! His day is marching on. I have read a fiery Gospel writ in burnished rows of steel; “As ye deal with My contemners, so with you My grace shall deal”; Let the Hero, born of woman, crush the serpent with His heel, Since God is marching on. Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Since God is marching on. He has sounded forth the trumpet that shall never call retreat; He is sifting out the hearts of men before His judgment seat; Oh, be swift, my soul, to answer Him! be jubilant, my feet; Our God is marching on. Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Our God is marching on. In the beauty of the lilies Christ was born across the sea, With a glory in His bosom that transfigures you and me: As He died to make men holy, let us live to make men free; [originally …let us die to make men free] While God is marching on. Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! While God is marching on. He is coming like the glory of the morning on the wave, He is wisdom to the mighty, He is honor to the brave; So the world shall be His footstool, and the soul of wrong His slave, Our God is marching on. Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Our God is marching on. Favorite patriotic movie is one I saw a long time ago - The Longest Day. This is the story about the D-Day invasion of Normandy during WWII and the 82nd Airborne. In Sainte-Mère-Église, Private John Steele from the 82nd Airborne (played by Red Buttons) has been memorialized by the local population with a dummy hanging from a parachute from the church tower on which he accidentally landed. :fireworks |
