Let's All Go Down to the River
Anyone remember this one?
Let's all go down to the river - there's a man who's walking on the water. Come along with me I want to see this man walking on the water. Well, He can raise the dead from the grave - change the water and turn it into wine. And He can make the lame walk - he can make the dumb talk And open up the eyes of the blind!! Oh, let's all go down to the river see that man who's walking on the water. Come along with me, if you want to see that man walking on the water. Jesus is the man at the river - and He's washing people's sins away! He can save your soul - if you give Him control. He'll get you ready for that judgment day. Let's all go down... Oh, let's all go down Oh, let's all go down to the river!!! :rockband |

Probably the best one (in my opinion) about baptism is "The Baptism of Jesse Taylor" First Verse Among the local taverns they'll be a slack in business 'Cause Jesse's drinkin' came before the groceries and the rent Among the local women they'll be a slack in cheatin' 'Cause Jesse won't be be steppin' out again. Chorus They baptized Jesse Taylor in Cedar Creek (or in Jesus' Name) last Sunday Jesus gained a soul and Satan lost a good right arm They all cried "Hallelujah" as Jesse's head went under 'Cause this time he went under for the Lord. Verse 2 The scars on Jesse's knuckles were more than just respected The county courthouse records tell all there is to tell The pockets of the gamblers will soon miss Jesse's money And the black eye of the law will soon be well. (Chorus) Verse 3 From now on Nancy Taylor can proudly speak to neighbors Tell how much Jesse took up with little Jim Now Jimmy's got a daddy and Jesse's got a family And Franklin County's got a lot more man. (Chorus) |
I remember that one, too....AN oldie, but goodie.

Here's one I remember people singing at baptisms..........way back when I was a child:
SHALL WE GATHER AT THE RIVER Shall we gather at the river, Where bright angel feet have trod, With its crystal tide forever Flowing by the throne of God? Yes, we’ll gather at the river, The beautiful, the beautiful river; Gather with the saints at the river That flows by the throne of God. On the margin of the river, Washing up its silver spray, We will talk and worship ever, All the happy golden day. Ere we reach the shining river, Lay we every burden down; Grace our spirits will deliver, And provide a robe and crown. At the smiling of the river, Mirror of the Savior’s face, Saints, whom death will never sever, Lift their songs of saving grace. Soon we’ll reach the silver river, Soon our pilgrimage will cease; Soon our happy hearts will quiver With the melody of peace. |
WATER GRAVE
Steve Chapman Now in my house there’s been a mercy killin’ The man I used to be’s been crucified And the death of this man is the final way of revealing In a spiritual way to live I had to die Ooh, and if I let the dead man linger in me I might get a little idle in my ways So I’m goin’ down to the celebration river Gonna take this dead man down to the water grave I’m goin’ down to the river my Lord I’m gonna be buried alive I want to show my Heavenly Father The man I used to be has finally died I’m goin’ down to the river my Lord I’m gonna be buried alive I want to show my Heavenly Father The man I used to be has finally died When I think of where I’m goin’ in terms of where I’ve been It makes me glad to know my Lord that I’ve been born again When I think of where I’m goin’ in terms of where I’ve been It makes me glad to know my Lord that I’ve been born again When I think of where I’m goin’ in terms of where I’ve been It makes me glad to know my Lord that I’ve been born again I’m goin’ down to the river my Lord I’m gonna be buried alive I want to show my Heavenly Father The man I used to be has finally died I’m goin’ down to the river my Lord I’m gonna be buried alive I want to show my Heavenly Father The man I used to be has finally died |
Thanks for your support gang...
She wanted it to be in a river, so we dropped the cookout mid-stride and went down to the place where I baptized my son. It's perfect. All went well and as we traveled I watched all the fireworks thinking to myself how great to be reborn on the 4th of July. She didn't receive the Holy Ghost, though she has described to us an experience a few years back that suggests that she did then, but she does feel "different" now. Last night, after some Bible study and discussion we watched some of "The Shame Series" that Bro. Langston put out a few years back. It really had an impact on her because she is really dealing with a great deal of shame and unforgiveness. It was apparent that she was really getting ministered to, so we sent her home with one of the tapes. Please pray for her if you all get a moment, she has a long way to go, but the journey has begun with a clean slate. Just thought I'd give an update. God Bless. |
That's awesome Bro. Theo. Love to hear about what God is doing!
