What Percentage of your Church is New Converts or From another Church?

What percentage of your church is New Converts?

What Percentage of your Church has come from another Church?

What percentage of your Church was raised there?

Monkeyman 07-05-2007 02:01 PM

50% New
50% From another church
50% raised here

I went to school in LA

AGAPE 07-05-2007 02:03 PM

5%
47%
52%

the middle figure is not a good one b/c this includes the pastors family, some people who moved from other states, and some people who came from a very liberal independent church that disbanded.

Theresa 07-05-2007 02:05 PM

cant your new converts be from another church? ROFL!!!

Monkeyman 07-05-2007 02:08 PM

Seriously Agape...you are a known conservative, how has this new group from the liberal church acclimated? When you say liberal...makeup, pants on the females, noserings, and baptism by sprinkling? Or, they have seen an episode of Gunsmoke and take vacations to Disneyland?

I find it intersesting that the two groups merged and hope all is well in the church!!!!

well first the liberal church was a small church....it has recently been restarted. we got the "cons" from the church....
all of the married ones wore wedding bands
all the ladies wore short skirts
guys and girls wore short sleeves, etc...

this has been better than 10 years ago...
2 didn't last a month

the others lined up right away except for one lady who stil wore her slits, short sleeves and wedding band.

2 of them got married and moved away.
2 of them left and went to a liberal church
2 got jobs that took them out of state

2 stayed.
the lady that was the exception at first has became one of the better saints in the church....*btw she finally lined up and testifies to this day that we were never rude to her about her wedding band we just preached against it with a good spirit

Was there anyproblems??? Yes, we lost a few "holier than thous" b/c we allowed these "libs" to come to our place, but now the "libs" are cons and the "holier than thous" are backslid! go figure???

I would estimate....

30% New Converts
20% Other Churches
50% Been there

TalkLady 07-05-2007 05:17 PM

Runs 100% in this area...LOL

Sherri 07-05-2007 09:44 PM

Most of our people at this new church are just converted "heathens" or people who are from other denominal churches who are hungry for more of God. We get very few people in from other Spirit filled churches, including UPC.

Not to hijack the thread here . . . but this post doesn't make sense to me.

First, it's amazing the numerology in play here . . . they're all in 2s! :lol

Out of all these, which seem to number a grand total of 10 . . . only 2 stayed. And this is a good thing? :hmmm

We have one family come back to our church within the past year.

60% Current members
39% New Converts
1% Founder's daughter and her husband who returned to the area after living out of the state for 30 years. The only thing she is good for is gossip and backstabbing. Just because papa founded the church over 50 years ago, she thinks she has the right to run the church. Other than that cancer, our congregation is the greatest in the world.

Jesuswins 07-06-2007 07:23 AM

15% New Converts
25% Other Churches
60% Been There

Very few. I make them jump through so many hoops the roamers don't come here. I have no desire to build a church off other Pentecostal churches even the liberal ones. Most roamers(not all) have serious problems. Hitchhikers are dangerous.

LOL! a half a dozen years ago, I was talking to a pastor that was wringing his hands over this couple that had told him they were leaving.

I told the guy to stop it, they were leaving when they got there. (they had hopped into his church from another church across town.)

True as a young preacher I was in a fellowship meeting where all the preachers were commenting on Roman Catholics. I said the Roman Catholics never bothered me it was the ROAMING Pentecostals that caused most church problems.:party

Guessing....

70%

15%

15%

I would think this would be close to 100%. There are many Oneness Churches in this area, so people just "transfer" then "transfer again" then "transfer again"...Well, you get the picture. We are saturated in this area and not much fellowship. ......I have often wondered what life would be like in another area of the world.
